Just a couple of basic questions. If all of my accounts are using a custom name server that I set up a long time ago, then I am assuming that my customers won't need to make any changes. None of my accounts have an assigned IP. I will just need to update my custom name server. Is this correct?

Also, I think on Go Daddy it is possible to add up to 4 IP numbers for a name server. Should we be adding the new numbers as the 3rd and 4th IP number, and then after the new server goes live, updating again to remove the original 2 numbers? Will this help avoid any interruption to our sites?

You will need to update your custom nameservers. However, some customers may have to change their DNS as well if their registrar requires them to enter IP addresses when adding DNS. Most do not require this now but there could still be a few that do.

I believe you're referring to 4 different nameserver entries. Do not add all 4. Simply change the existing two once the accounts have been fully transfered to the new server.

        Migration

I use both custom name servers and your dns19/dns20. If I switch everything to dns19/dns20 I should be OK right?

Are you planning to leave the cpanel10 live for a while until DNS changes propagate?

At what point exactly do I have to change my custom DNS IPs and are you going to notify us?

Are you expecting any downtime from this migration?

          1. You will be fine so long as none of the domains ever required you to enter IP addresses as part of the DNS. If you had to enter a DNS name and IP on any domain then the IPs will have to be updated.

          2. cpanel10 will remain online for at least 48 hours, but probably closer to 4 or 5 days.

          3. To ensure no downtime, these need to be changed after all account transfers have been completed. When the server upgrade begins, a new post will be made in our announcements forum. The post will be updated with the progress of the transfers, including when they are completed.

          4. See #3.

Andrew, it still seems to take a while to receive an email notifying us of a new post in the announcements forum, even when we are subscribed to it.

Are you able to change it so we get an email immediately (or even on the hour), as opposed to several hours later.

              Thanks.

All subscription notices are already configured to send every hour on the :02.

Just looking at WHM at the moment, and half of the accounts show that should be showing. Given that you're not finished doing migration, I understand that this could just resolve itself when you do, but I wanted to make sure that this isn't a strange occurance (as it has been this way for the better part of the day). I assumed that each reseller account in its entirety would be moved at once.

As you said yourself, not all domain accounts have been transfered at this time, we're only a little over half way through currently.

Alrighty, just wanted to make sure something hadn't gone wrong. Thanks for the quick updates.

How long are you going to keep cpanel10 online?

                        Thanks,

Ok, I think my sites are fine after the move.

                          Couple of questions.

How do I access the old and new servers without going through the domain names? Are these correct (of course updating with the actual username):

Are there any advantages to changing my DNS servers to:

                          dns75.gzo.com
                          dns76.gzo.com

Or should I leave them as the old DNS servers (which seem to be working)?

Thanks for the new server and all of your work with the transfer Andrew and co!

                          Jim

If we are currently getting the cpanel10 server when we go to www.domainname.com/cpanel (as opposed to the one accessible from WHM on cpanel38) do we need to update our DNS entries?

I can't recall if at any time I entered manual IP addresses, but I noticed the difference because I changed my cpanel skin in WHM and when going to domainname.com/cpanel the old skin shows, but accessing it from WHM shows the new skin, different versions of software, etc.

Everything on cpanel10 will be online until Saturday. On Saturday HTTP will be disabled on cpanel10 to serve as a "hint" of sorts for people that may still have domains loading from cpanel10.
