    Firewall Upgrades

We started upgrading the firewalls on some of our servers early last week. This wasn't viewed as a significant change but we've had a few tickets submitted on this so I wanted to make everyone aware of what is happening.

The new firewall is much stricter and some of you might also see performance increases with standard FTP. There are two key things to keep in mind:

    1. If you have problems logging into something on the server do not continue to try logging in. Instead, change the password for whatever you are trying to login to so that you have the correct login information. The firewall monitors all login attempts across all services on the server and will block your IP entirely if you enter excessive incorrect logins. If you find that this has happened to you then simply submit a ticket with your IP and we'll get it removed for you.

    2. If you run a script or anything that connects out to a remote server, you may find that it no longer works properly. If this is the case, please submit a ticket letting us know the URL of the script, what it is used for, and the port that it attempts to connect out with. An example of such a script would be one that views the status of a remote game server.

Below is a list of our current upgrade progress which will be updated in real time. We hope to have all of these upgrades completed within the next week or two.

    Another important note:

Make sure that you are not checking an e-mail account more than 90 times per hour. If you exceed this limit the firewall will lock you out of the e-mail account. Realistically this should only be a problem if you are checking the e-mail account through multiple programs since most only allow once per minute (or 60 per hour). Just beware of this and adjust your timing accordingly if necessary.

All of these upgrades have been completed.

cpanel13, cpanel15, cpanel19, and cpanel36 will all be upgraded automatically as soon as they have been upgraded to our new server platform.
