spam egg spam spam bacon and spam...

    Hello Dathorners,

I've recently been bombarded with a new type of spam emails.

The emails contain the usual stuff. Viagra, cheap software, sleeping pills, debt reduction and so on. What I’ve noticed though is that at the end of the message, some kind of strange text is added. It sometimes looks like a part of a poem, a part of a book or a part of a news message. Is this a try to fool the spam filters or what the heck is the meaning of this madness?

I’ve added some of the additional texts from different mails below for further analysis.

Yet so great was his delight at reaching once more his native land that all discomforts were speedily forgotten. Much as he would have enjoyed a day in the great metropolis of the Pacific slope, Rob dared not delay longer than to take a general view of the place, to note its handsome edifices and to wonder at the throng of Chinese inhabiting one section of the town These things were much more plainly and quickly viewed by Rob from above than by threading a way through the streets on foot; for he looked down upon the city as a bird does, and covered miles with a single glance.

Makes it sound like its coming from a news website's "alert", much like CNN's.

I get those @ work all the time, except most of the time, they fail to actually advertise anything at all. Just junk. Then again my email addy is chris@xxx.net (3 letter domain name - we really get spammed bad @ work).

I've noticed (not ot hijack the thread) but godaddy is really strict and quick to block full ip blocks (255.255.255.0/8) for 1 ip that sends out lots of emails. Grrr.
