    Propagation Delay using GoDaddy.com?

Is anyone experiencing propagation delays using GoDaddy.com
    or other registrars?

I registered a domain today at GoDaddy.com to host on my dathorn account,
    TaskMaster1984.com.

I've registered and hosted 4 other domains via GoDaddy.com and Dathorn,
and in all other cases, it was practically instantaneous. By the time I
could write a simple home page and upload it (15 min.), the site was
    visitable in my browser.

But not the one I did today/yesterday. It's been 10 hrs and still no sign
of it on any other whois other than GoDaddy's.

So I finally called GoDaddy.com, and tech support said that for the last
month or so, propagation has been taking a full 24-48 hrs for .COMs
    as well.

Is anyone else experiencing this kind of propagation delay lately?
    With GoDaddy.com or another registrar?

I have developed over 50 web sites over the past 8 years and I have never had a domain name propogate in less than 10 to 20 hours. I honestly don't know how it is even possible to have one propogate in 15 minutes.

Well, it's propagated now, but ...

Honestly, I am not making this up.

Prior to this one, the last 4 domains I've created or hosted,
      TsooCal.com, BAServant.com, PacificLiveMusic.com, and SweetApplePhoto.com,
all were available as quickly as I could write a simple index.php file for each
and create the hosting account and the FTP profile in WS_FTP.

No more than 15 minutes for any of them. I was amazed myself.
My friends and my mom (the website recipients) were all amazed in turn.

But I just told them that this is the way it is nowadays, what used to take
a couple days is now instantaneous.

As for how it would be possible for it to propagate so quickly, why shouldn't
it be? It's all automated. No human interaction. Why have any delay at
      all?

Anyway, this one seemed to take 20 hours or more. I have no idea when
      it actually propagated.

If user's ISP has caching DNS it could be 72 hours (or even longer) till the cache expires which has nothing to do with the registar. You can use NSLookup to see if the root DNS's have have up to date records and also check your ISP's DNS too. TTL (Time To Live) at the ISP's DNS will (usually) tell you how long till the cache expires.

ShabbatSam, when I renewed one of my older domains a few months ago
within about 20mins for me to find my DIS password, setup the account (again)
and make a "coming soon" index page it had propagated. But this last one I did
like last week or the week before (GamerDesigns.com) took a full night

Probably just your ISP slow to update maybe, like Buddha said.

            Your mileage may vary

I've definitely had things propogate in 15 minutes. I've also had them take closer to 24 hours.

Be aware that propagation can also depend on location. A user in one part of the world may see your site, while others may not.

            Too much for my brain.

Your host file is always an easy way around propagation problems. No one should have to wait if they know the IP address.
