    New Server Platform & Features

I just wanted to keep everyone updated on what is happening behind the scenes here, I apologize for the long read but I think it's well worth it.

New Server Platform & Server Upgrades
First and foremost, our previous routine for upgrading servers is going to change. Instead of replacing old servers with new ones, we will be adding new servers and moving customers to the new servers. For instance, cpanel10 will be the first one to be moved, and all customers on that server will be placed on the new cpanel38, and then cpanel10 will be removed entirely.

This will, of course, change the IP addresses for your domains, etc. However, you will only have to make changes yourself if you have entered any nameserver IPs at your domain's registrar (this includes custom nameservers as well). If you have not entered any IPs and have just chosen to use our nameservers then you will not need to change anything.

The hardware on our new servers has been greatly improved to better meet current and future demands:

Dual Xeon Processors (same as before)
Minimum of 2GB RAM (Previously 1GB)
10k RPM Ultra320 SCSI hard drives (Previously IDE or SATA)

The key improvement is the hard drives as we will now be able to move away from the 3ware IDE/SATA RAID controllers that have been giving us a lot of trouble lately and are simply not performing as needed.

    New Backup System
Each server mentioned above will include version 3 of our backup system. Basically, these backups will be identical in every way to a standard cPanel backup except that they will not be compressed. They will be accessible via FTP as the current backups are.

Leaving the backups uncompressed saves a great deal of system resources and will allow customers to easily retrieve a few files via FTP if necessary. This is much easier than downloading an entire backup and extracting it just to get a single file.

Also, since these backups will essentially be cPanel backups, they can be used to fully recreate an account just as a cPanel backup could. This has been a huge limitation of our previous backup system which we've now addressed.

    Other New Features
Each new server mentioned above will also include:

    1) Fantastico De Lux w/ Template Express (ALL CPSkins.com material will no longer be offered)
    2) DNS Servers on Separate Class C Networks
    3) RVSkin

    Coming Soon
    1) ClientExec Licenses - These will be available very soon at much less than the retail price. The standard retail price is $11.95/month. This may include installation by us as well depending on the terms of the agreement that we reach with ClientExec.

    2) PHP5 - This will be available on all new servers as soon as a stable and cPanel compatible solution is available to run PHP4 w/ phpsuexec and PHP 5.1.2+ as CGI. We're mostly just waiting on cPanel for this as right now only 5.0.x solutions exist.

    3) Dedicated Servers - Once we've gone through our new server upgrade process a couple of times and have made sure everything is working perfectly we will finalize our dedicated server offerings and make them available to the public.
