    Excessive Mysql queries and Mambo

One of my domains has been suspended for excessive Mysql queries. t is using Mambo could it be related?
Has anyone had similar problems with Mambo
If not what could it be.

I am not admin for this domain and so can't access it I host it as a favour for a community group.

Mambo has created this same problem on several domains over the past few months but the problem can also be related to page views.

this site isnt one with huge traffic on it tho, the band width usage is very low.

What can they do about it?

Bandwidth usage is irrelevant. Each time a PHP script is visited it has to be run by the server and each script will run many MySQL queries. A page may not generate much bandwidth at all but it can still execute hundreds of MySQL queries.

So where do the go now? How do they prevent this from happening? They are not a big site and only just launched the website with the mambo.

You might ask that at Mambo or Joomla.

Removing mambo and using something less resource intensive may be an option. Otherwise the domain may simply need a host that is more suited towards that kind of PHP/MySQL traffic (ie: VPS).

is there nothing we can do to keep the sql queries within bounds for your servers so we can get their website back up?

I find it hard to believe that such a small site would peak out the sql queries to this extent

There is no magical end all solution. To reduce the queries either you would have to remove the scripts or get less visitors. You really have no control over the visitors.

I am recomanding that they revert to their old html site then you can take them off suspension.

I have also told them they need to go off mambo or go to another host.

How does that sound? They really need their emails as well...

HTML would not be a problem obviously. CMS scripts in general are just a huge burden on servers with so many things that simply aren't necessary to have.

I will get them to reasses what they have enabled in the site as well, that might get them over it. I am sure they ahve all the bells and whistles. They also have a forum on the site.

Can you atleast allow them access to put up an offline page so there is no activity and give them a semblance of professionaism? They can then have their emails going.
