Problem connecting to mail server

I'm trying to use outlook to retrieve my mail from mydomain.com. However, after I put all the information in and try to test the account, It can find the servers for both recieving and sending but It cant log in to incoming server or send the test message. I get the same error if i try it purposfully with the wrong user name, but I am sure I am using the correct username+mydomain.com and the correct password. I am using Pop3 for incoming and SMTP for outgoing. I have tried everything that I could find so far on the site.

for sending chances are you have to use your isp's smtp server. Try to send and receive using you webmail, this will let you know if your incoming server is working.

or check dnsstuff.com and do a mail test
