    Setting Up Nameservers

Hi, I have just signed-up for a new dathorn account and have just a few DNS/Nameserver related questions to help me get started ...

    1. In the Welcome Email I received, it mentions setting up your own Nameservers, where and how do you do this?

    2. I plan to use my Dathorn account soley as a reseller account. I do not necessarily plan to have a personal domain name or site setup on the account (although I can set one up if needed). So, when it comes to setting my nameservers, what should be the domain name in ns1.yourdomain.com?

    Thanks!

    1. These must be created as DNS hosts at your domain's registrar, this can be called many different things depending on what registrar you use.

    2. Whatever you want the nameservers to be, it just has to be one of your domains so you can set them up as mentioned above.

The GoDaddy interface has been changed considerably & no longer works as in the tutorial, unfortunately.

Unless anyone found a way, it looks like now you can only specify custom nameservers with the same domain as the suffix. (E.g. if you registered www.poop.com -- goaddy forces your nameservers to be XXX.poop.com)

              THat kinda sucks!

I take that back. Once you register a nameserver once under Modify Hosts, it will let you use those nameservers for other domains. Stupid me.

                  Their Help topic on this

Just did it for my account on cpanel24 (or now cpanel56)

                  The basics
                  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
                  2. Under the Domain Names section, select Manage Domains. The Domain Control Center opens.
                  3. In your list of domain names, click on the domain name you want to modify. The details for the selected domain display on the page.
                  4. In the Host Summary section, click View/Modify Detail.
                  5. Under Set Hosts, enter your nameserver Host names, along with their corresponding IP address, and click OK.
