    cpanel35 upgrade on July 28th

ATTN ALL customers located on cpanel35, please read and understand this entire thread thoroughly.

On July 28th, cpanel35 will be upgraded to our new platform. More information on this can be found here: http://forums.dathorn.com/showthread.php?t=2094

Instead of being on cpanel35, users will now be on cpanel46.

    Server: cpanel46.gzo.com - 74.52.96.50
    DNS #1: dns91.gzo.com - 74.52.96.52
    DNS #2: dns92.gzo.com - 74.52.62.56

    IMPORTANT
Anyone that has custom nameservers or that has used the cpanel35 DNS IP addresses (69.93.211.163 and 69.93.211.164) for anything will need to update their entries to the new nameservers and IPs listed above.

To avoid all possible downtime on your domains, do not make any DNS changes until we have confirmed here in the forums that the cpanel35 account transfers have been completed.

Those that are using the cpanel35 gzo.com nameservers (dns69/dns70) without IPs, do not need to change anything. They will be updated to the new IPs automatically.

Beginning on July 28th, we also advise all users to disable anything involving MySQL updates (order forms, forums, CMS, etc.) until it is running on the new servers. This will avoid updates being lost during the transfer and ending up with a database that is a few hours old. If this is not an option, you can leave everything active, cpanel35 will still be online for a few days following the upgrade. But you will be responsible for transfering any database updates that might be needed.

Once again, if you have any questions or comments, please post in the forum thread that is linked above.

Note that during this upgrade any domain usernames that have dashes or underscores in them will be renamed to exclude these symbols. Customer usernames with dashes in them will remain the same.

We are beginning to transfer the actual dis#### reseller accounts.

We will begin transfering the domain accounts as early as we can today so that we can go ahead and get this move completed. First, we will be manually transfering the accounts that are bigger than 100MB to ensure that no problems occur. Then we will proceed with all other accounts.

Updates on our current progress will be posted in this thread throughout the entire process.

All cpanel35 customers should now be able to login to WHM on cpanel46 with the same login information as they used for cpanel35. Please do not do anything with this yet, however, as the domain accounts have not been transfered yet.

If you login to the customer control panel and view your welcome e-mail, it should now list cpanel46 as your server.

Domain accounts that have disk usage > 100MBs are now being manually transfered from cpanel35 to cpanel46.

Note that this entire transfer process during the upgrade generally takes 24-36 hours. Since cpanel35 is running very poorly this upgrade will likely take longer. We're going to complete this as quickly as possible.

If you can avoid acessing cpanel35, please do. The less activity that is occuring on the machine, the faster this will ultimately get completed. You may find services unavailable from time to time during this transfer process.

Throughout the day I recommend logging in to WHM on cpanel46 to see if any of your domains have transfered. If possible I highly suggest changing the DNS for your domains one by one as they start showing up in WHM on cpanel46. This will help your domain resolve to the new server quicker and will lessen the burden on cpanel35.

We're still working to get these accounts transfered as quickly as possible but it is going extremely slow. It will take longer than the normal 24-36 hour upgrade.

I want to apologize for this once again. Hardware problems are certainly not fun for anyone to deal with. We will certainly be investigating this further once we have everything transfered to the new server.

The large accounts (>100MB) should be finished transfering by later this afternoon. These domains account for over 80% of the total disk that needs to be transfered and restored, so the remaining accounts should go a lot quicker.

All accounts > 100MB have now been transfered to cpanel46. We're now transfering all remaining accounts.

All accounts have now been transfered. You should now change your DNS/nameservers to the new cpanel46 nameservers if necessary.

Also, you may need to re-install SSL certificates on the new server (cpanel46). If you purchased one from us simply submit a ticket and we can re-install it for you.

If you encounter any further problems, please submit a trouble ticket.

HTTP on cpanel35 will be disabled on Monday (8/7/06). Please be sure that all DNS updates are made prior to that.
