    which CMS for simple user?

I have a user that wants to have a simple CMS system that they can update. If it looks good, all the better. They don't know how to program and are only looking to pay me an hour to get it setup. Their needs are really some graphics and text...nothing heavy or advanced.

I haven't followed some of the cms that are available through fantastico. Which way would you send me? Current offerings are:

    Content Management
    Drupal
    Geeklog
    Joomla
    Mambo Open Source
    PHP-Nuke
    phpWCMS
    phpWebSite
    Post-Nuke
    Siteframe
    TYPO3
    Xoops

    Thank you! Sean

Wordpress (http://wordpress.org) is always good for basic CMS functions. Although it's a blogging app, you can easily create static pages and add plugins to extend functionality.

We've had good success with Soholaunch (http://soholaunch.com). It's a website builder and basic website management can be achieved with the free version. It also provides room to grow if they should eventually need more advanced features such as e-commerce, calendar, secure area, etc.

Both Wordpress and Soholaunch are available via Fantastico (Soholaunch is called "Pro Edition" under "Site Builders")

Also, I haven't used CMS Simple (http://www.cmsimple.dk/) much, but it seems very easy to use.

As far as the other CMSs you listed, I've had experience with Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Post-Nuke, TYPO3 and Xoops. I'd say they are all overkill for a beginner, but some may argue otherwise.

Thank you Denny. I'm taking a look at some of the links you sent.

Do you know if dathorn allows me to turn on soholaunch through fantastico? I didn't see it when I logged in last time. If not, what's the easiest way to get it going on my dathorn / cpanel server?

anyone else have a feel for the ones that are currently offered with our fantastico installs? This one (part of fantastico) looked decent but I don't know how simple it is for a new user: http://drupal.org/

      Thank you for the reply.

On my Fantastico if I scroll down to "Site Builders" (as opposed to "Content Management"), there are two options: "Pro Edition" and "Template Express". "Pro Edition" installs the basic version of Soholaunch.

thank you...it's there on mine too; I just didn't investigate everything to connect the wording with soholaunch. I'll give it a try.

by the way, thanks for the note about http://opensourcecms.com/
Denny mentioned that's a place you can see and try out a bunch of the cms's that are out.
