    E-Mail Filtering

I like to filter out emails that include executable attachments to prevent any viruses from infecting my computer.

    In order to do this:
    - go to your CPANEL and click on 'E-mail Filtering'
    - click 'Add Filter'
    - apply the following settings:
Filter Any Header that contains MICROSOFT_EXECUTABLE
    Destination Discard
    - click 'Activate'

    That's it!

What filters/e-mail options do you use?

I filter spam locally. I found this great program: http://popfile.sourceforge.net/

It currently is trained for me and has 98.14% accurracy. This is good since I get a lot of Press Releases that have topics like spam. It is an excellent program and free, so I would reccomend it to everyone.

        Tutorials, SpamAssassin

There are a number of references on email filtering for Outlook, Express, Eudora, etc. for users that are specific to the email program once the mail gets to them. A Google on email +filtering +tutorial will turn them up.
From a preprocessing standpoint, here are a couple of other resources...
http://au2.spamassassin.org/index.html for a discussion of their approach to filters, check the "Tests" section.
http://www.procmail.org/ for procmail. The site has a number of links to related information.
And Popfile (see -Oz- entry above) seems very popular. I think there were several recommendations about it on the old forums.

I would like to implement SpamAssassin into my SquirrelMail (that I use for webmail). If anyone can help me on that, I would appreciate it. Also, I know that SpamAssassin puts something at the beginning of the e-mail's subject, and that can be used to filter e-mail into a Spam folder when downloading into Outlook or something like that. I was wondering if there's a way to create a permanent "Spam" folder in everyone's account and have detected Spam mail move directly into there. Sort of like Yahoo's "Bulk Mail" folder. Thanks in advance for any help.
