    Gallery and NetPBM

    Hey All,

I love "Gallery" and use it on almost all my sites. I'm tired of installing the binaries myself and thought I'd use the suggestions on the FAQ, but can't get it to work.

    Here is the FAQ: http://forums.dathorn.com/showthread.php?t=48

I used "Path to NetPBM: /usr/bin " during the Gallery setup and got "Error: I can't find NetPBM at the location you provided. Gallery prefers NetPBM version 9.9 and up. You can install just the binaries Gallery needs from the "

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

Just got a reply from Andrew:

"NetPBM has been installed to /usr/local/netpbm."

So, I guess it wasn't installed, and wasn't at the location mentioned in the FYI / FAQ

        need it on cpanel32b too

Tried (in gallery config, netpbm path):

        /usr/bin
        /usr/local/bin
        /usr/local/netpbm and
        (from shell) `find /usr -iname "*pbm*"`

but no hits on any of the above.

        thanks
        Brett

to where? cause it seems that it is in different locations on different server and we need to update the faq with all possible locations.

Maybe it'd be better to talk to andrew, it also seems to not be installed on all servers if these posts are correct.

You can just install NetPBM yourself to a directory within your webspace.
NetPBM requires no root priviledges that i know of, it's simply a case of uploading the files

Yeah, that's what I've done in the past, but uploading the files and using precious disk space on every account is no fun!

                        Getting Errors

My thumbnails all of a sudden disappeared when I added a new album. I have made no other changes to my gallery except minor changes to the css file.

I have attempted to verify the paths to the graphics toolkits and am getting errors on both NetPBM and ImageMagick.

For NetPBM, I have the path: /usr/bin/
and I get the following error:
The path you entered doesn't contain valid NetPBM binaries.

I change the NetPBM path to: /usr/local/netpbm
and I get the following error:
The path you entered isn't a valid path.

For ImageMagick, I have the path:/usr/local/bin/
and I get the following error:
                        Problem executing binary:
                        File does not exist

Have the paths changed to NetPBM and ImageMagick or has something else changed? Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this so that my thumbnails appear?

Thanks for any help you can provide,
                        Vicky
