    Setup Secure transmission from website

I have a client that is going to collect Driver License Numbers in a form on their website. They will also collect a Social Security Number on two other forms. They won't be collecting any credit card numbers or completing any financial transactions. They are just gathering basic data (Name, Addr, Phone) and then the DL# or SSN in certain situations. I was wanting them to use a certificate for these three forms and wanted to know what my best option was. Can I purchase a certificate from Dathorn that will simply give them an https: address that they can use when entering and posting data on those three pages? Is that overkill? How is anyone else handling this?

No one in their right mind should submit their social security number over a non-SSL connection. I would most certainly recommend a SSL certificate, and this isn't just because we sell them.

Having said that, we do sell them and this includes complete setup and installation by us. A dedicated IP address is required for SSL. The first IP is free, all others are $1.50/month each.

By "complete installation and setup by us" I assume you mean that I turn in a Trouble Ticket requesting an SSL certificate for one of my hosted domains and then shortly thereafter I'll have the ability to point my forms to https://mydomain.com/secureform.php ? If that is the case, then that is fantastic!

Correct - $45 for one year per our website.

You can of course use a self signed certificate for free, however browsers seem to raise more alarming certificate warnings with each release that could put users off usng the forms...
