Drupal Clean URL's

Has anyone enabled Drupal's clean URL's option? It is greyed out for me. I'm also running it on a sub domain, could this be the issue? Wordpress clean URL's work fine.

Is this an install from cpanel?

I haven't experienced this but IIRC you have to create the mod_rewrite rules in .htaccess manually - Maybe that might allow you to enable clean urls...

I doubt the subdomain would stop this working (could be wrong though) - Would certainly work from a non-cpanel install...
