panel 23 dogging it today too

maybe it's a system wide problem. Panel 23 has been high loading off and on today.

Nah, it goes up all the time. Im thinkin someone else has an intensive forum that doesnt kill off old php functions, or someone is doing backups or tarring stuff (usually in the morning)

We did a test by tarring up some stuff on a server I manage (used for backup only via ftp/ssh) and tarring about 3-5 gigs worth of junk will just eat at the proc. heavily. Even small files to be tarred can do that. I still think its php something or other that is running defunt processes.

And yah, you little fart. Im gonna get u! =P

when load is high my forums load like crapola, espically for ppl from *.pl

I've noticed the same thing at times. My forums are usually not that busy ... I have over 300 users, but rarely more than 10 at a time on (most ever was 31 people on at the same time, right after I moved here and everyone was anxious to get their fix).

How can you check to see how many resources you are using? I can't use Cpanel from work (ports are blocked by our firewall), but I don't think there's anything there to show current processes, etc. I think there's a linux command you can run when in a SSH session.

log on to ssh and run 'top'

see who or what is hogging resources.

Hey that cool. (I do not do much in SSH)

I didn;t see anything out of the norm though. I'll have to check it again.

I've opened tickets every time its happened previously, but it keeps happening...hoping someone on the forums will realize one of their sites is causin issues and fix it themselves. =p

Or it was me in general doing a rant.
