    Good, cheap book for CSS....

I am here 2day to admit it...I admit...my CSS suckx!!!!

Anyways, I want to make pure CSS layouts....I've done one,
but saddly its kinda...plain and was from a 'CSS Coding Template'

Anywhose, any names of cheaper n' dirt CSS books that are good?
Something I can snatch for under $13 or so on Amazon, used...(not including S&H).

Who knows, it may even be @ the local bookstore...
Hope so, I can't order anything til I reformat this PC or get mine fixed.

I let the slightly-bloated NetObjects Fusion do my CSS for me. But I gotta admit: SitePoint has plenty o' useful info.
(Btw, Jonathan, why the fist-shaking at AVG?)

One of the things that always cracks me up when I go to Borders or Barnes and Nobles is the cheap book table. You can find "1000 Tips for WordPerfect 5.0", for instance.

But you can also find some very good books by O'Rielly Publishing on HTML and CSS. These $40 books are on sale for $5 to $10; the publishers haven't caught on that CSS and HTML topics are not yet obsoleted because of the new versions of the languages. These books can work well for learning CSS on a budget, and then running your code through the CSS Evaluator at http://www.w3c.org

Hey Frank, perhaps you can point out some of O'Rielly's books?
I couldn't seem to find anything on Amazon

Do a search with this isbn number: 0-596-00525-3.

Amazon has it for 27.17 counting shipping.

See if this link works:CSS @ Amazon

Plus here is a css cookbook on amazon.

That was just a general note to check the discount table in the bookstores, and not be afraid to grab a good reference work even if its dated ... I picked up the Oxborne "HTML & XHTML - 4th Edition - The Complete Reference", over 800 pages (with 3 or 4 chapters on CSS) for $10 (list price $40.) I also found a "Cascading Style Sheets 2.0 Programmer's Reference" for $8 which I like very much. But I don't think I'd pay full price for either one!

The book I liked the best is Eric Meyer's "Eric Meyer on CSS", ISBN 0-7357-1245-X. I found the examples on his web site at http://www.ericmeyeroncss.com and liked them so much I bought the book at full price. For me, that's about as good an endorsement as you can get I hate paying full price for anything!

Eric Myer also wrote the books for oreilly which are the two that I linked to on amazon. The second one is his updated book.

About 4-5 years ago I started with DHTML and CSS for the World Wide Web from Peachpit Press, it's one of their Visual Quickstart guides. Still find it useful today, even though lots of the DHTML stuff is out of date (layers for Navigator?). Anyway, it's been updated to keep up with developments.

But who needs books when the web has so much CSS advice to offer? Check out http://www.zeldman.com/ or A List Apart for lots of useful information.

This ain't a book but I find it useful: Quick Reference to Cascading Style Sheets, level 1 Quicker than opening up The Advanced CSS Reference.
