    cpanel28 upgrade on May 11th

ATTN ALL customers located on cpanel28, please read and understand this entire thread thoroughly.

On May 11th, cpanel28 will be upgraded to our new platform. More information on this can be found here: http://forums.dathorn.com/showthread.php?t=2094

Instead of being on cpanel28, users will now be on cpanel42.

    Server: cpanel42.gzo.com - 74.52.39.194
    DNS #1: dns83.gzo.com - 74.52.39.196
    DNS #2: dns84.gzo.com - 74.52.38.16

    IMPORTANT
Anyone that has custom nameservers or that has used the cpanel28 DNS IP addresses (69.56.199.35 and 69.56.199.36) for anything will need to update their entries to the new nameservers and IPs listed above.

To avoid all possible downtime on your domains, do not make any DNS changes until we have confirmed here in the forums that the cpanel28 account transfers have been completed.

Those that are using the cpanel28 gzo.com nameservers (dns55/dns56) without IPs, do not need to change anything. They will be updated to the new IPs automatically.

Beginning on May 11th, we also advise all users to disable anything involving MySQL updates (order forms, forums, CMS, etc.) until it is running on the new servers. This will avoid updates being lost during the transfer and ending up with a database that is a few hours old. If this is not an option, you can leave everything active, cpanel28 will still be online for a few days following the upgrade. But you will be responsible for transfering any database updates that might be needed.

Once again, if you have any questions or comments, please post in the forum thread that is linked above.

Note that during this upgrade any domain usernames that have dashes or underscores in them will be renamed to exclude these symbols. Customer usernames with dashes in them will remain the same.

We are beginning to transfer the actual dis#### reseller accounts, when each one is done you will no longer be able to access WHM on cpanel28. We have to do this so that we can get them properly transfered to the new server with the appropriate permissions prior to the actual domain accounts being transfered. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We will begin transfering the domain accounts as early as we can today so that we can go ahead and get this move completed. First, we will be manually transfering the accounts that are bigger than 500MB to ensure that no problems occur. Then we will proceed with all other accounts.

Updates on our current progress will be posted in this thread throughout the entire process.

All cpanel28 customers should now be able to login to WHM on cpanel42 with the same login information as they used for cpanel28. Please do not do anything with this yet, however, as the domain accounts have not been transfered yet.

If you login to the customer control panel and view your welcome e-mail, it should now list cpanel42 as your server.

Domain accounts that have disk usage > 500MBs are now being manually transfered from cpanel28 to cpanel42.

Just to warn everyone, this transfer process is going to take some time. We're upgrading cpanel28 for performance reasons and this is making backup creation extremely slow.

We've to decided to go ahead and manually transfer domains that are larger than 100MB, there are 46 of them. Once these are complete the remaining domains should transfer fairly smoothly.

All of the exceptionally large accounts (>1GB) have now been transfered. The rest that are >100MB are now transfering much quicker. I'll update this thread once again when we move on to the remaining smaller accounts (<100MB).

I failed to update this earlier, but the remaining accounts are currently transfering. I will continue to update this thread as the transfer process progresses.

We're currently about 50% done transfering the remaining accounts. This is taking a bit longer simply due to the performance woes on cpanel28 and a large number of domain accounts that are very small.

The transfers are about 90% complete. We're trying to get them done quickly tonight but if not everything will be finished tomorrow morning.

All accounts have now been transfered. You should now change your DNS/nameservers to the new cpanel42 nameservers if necessary.

HTTP on cpanel28 will be disabled on Thursday (5/18/06). Please be sure that all DNS updates are made prior to that.

Also, I failed to mention this earlier, but you may need to re-install SSL certificates on the new server (cpanel42).
