    11/18/07 - cpanel39, cpanel40, cpanel41 MySQL Upgrade to 5.0.x

MySQL 5 offers many new features and performance enhancements. It also resolves a rather serious bug where a single PHP 5 script can crash the entire MySQL 4.1.x server under certain circumstances on RHEL 5.

On Sunday, November 18th, we will be upgrading cpanel39, cpanel40, and cpanel41 from MySQL 4.1.x to MySQL 5.0.x.

We highly recommend making sure that all of your scripts are compatible with MySQL 5 with strict mode disabled prior to the upgrade. We will not be running it with strict mode enabled as this is generally the cause for most of the compatibility problems. We're giving you quite a bit of advance notice to allow enough time for you to address any possible problems that might arise before the upgrade actually takes place. Based on our testing thus far, most scripts should have no problems with this upgrade, especially if you are running the most recent version.

MySQL has been upgraded on all three servers. PHP is now being re-compiled.
