3/7/08 - cpanel40 Upgrade

ATTN ALL customers located on cpanel40, please read and understand this entire thread thoroughly.

On March 7th starting at around 5PM CST cpanel40 will be upgraded to new hardware.

Instead of being on cpanel40, users will now be on cpanel69.

Server: cpanel69.gzo.com - 74.86.230.6
Shared Hosting IP: 67.228.15.168
DNS #1: dns133.gzo.com - 67.228.15.169
DNS #2: dns134.gzo.com - 67.228.27.216

IMPORTANT
Anyone that has custom nameservers or that has used the cpanel40 DNS IP addresses (70.87.73.68 and 70.87.74.8) for anything will need to update their entries to the new nameservers and IPs listed above.

To avoid all possible downtime on your domains, do not make any DNS changes until we have confirmed here in the forums that the cpanel40 account transfers have been completed.

Those that are using the cpanel40 gzo.com nameservers (dns51/dns52 or dns79/dns80) without IPs, do not need to change anything. They will be updated to the new IPs automatically.

We advise all users to disable anything involving MySQL updates (order forms, forums, CMS, etc.) until it is up and running on the new server. This will avoid updates being lost during the transfer and ending up with a database that is out of sync. If this is not an option, you can leave everything active, cpanel40 will still be online for a few days following the upgrade. But you will be responsible for transferring any database updates that might be needed.

As a result of this upgrade you will no longer be able to access WHM on cpanel40.

All cpanel40 customers should now be able to login to WHM on cpanel69 with the same login information as they used for cpanel40. Please do not do anything with this yet, however, as the domain accounts have not been transfered yet.

If you login to the customer control panel and view your welcome e-mail, it should now list cpanel69 as your server.

We're now transferring accounts from cpanel40 to cpanel69. This process may take 24 hours or so to complete.

All accounts have now been transfered. You should now change your DNS/nameservers to the new cpanel69 nameservers if necessary.

You may need to re-install SSL certificates on the new server (cpanel69). If you purchased one from us simply submit a ticket and we can re-install it for you.

If you're experiencing any HTTP or PHP related problems please see the information below.

During this upgrade we will be using cPanel's newly stable EasyApache 3 (EA3). Doing so does result in some minor changes that you should take note of:

1. Directory Indexes - The new default listing for directory index files is the following:

DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html index.shtml index.xhtml index.wml index.perl index.pl index.plx index.ppl index.cgi index.jsp index.js index.jp index.php4 index.php3 index.php index.phtml default.htm default.html home.htm

If you happen to have more than one index file (which is generally not recommended) and need them to display in a different order then you will need to add a DiretoryIndex line to your domain's .htaccess file. For almost all users, this won't need to be changed.

2. PHP AddHandlers - The correct AddHandler statements for PHP will be the following:

For PHP 4:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php4 .php

Note that there is now a 4 on the end, prior to the upgrade it has been x-httpd-php for PHP 4.

For PHP 5 it is the same as before:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

PHP 4 will still be the default version used on all servers unless you specifically have your .htaccess file setup to use PHP 5 instead.

HTTP on cpanel40 will be disabled on Saturday, 3/15/08. Please be sure that all DNS updates are made prior to that.
