6/13/08 - cpanel52 Upgrade

ATTN ALL customers located on cpanel52, please read and understand this entire thread thoroughly.

On June 13th starting at around 8AM CDT cpanel52 will be upgraded to new hardware.

Instead of being on cpanel52, users will now be on cpanel71.

Server: cpanel71.gzo.com - 75.126.55.106
Shared Hosting IP: 66.228.113.228
DNS #1: dns137.gzo.com - 208.101.19.208
DNS #2: dns138.gzo.com - 75.126.90.192

IMPORTANT
Anyone that has custom name servers or that has used the cpanel52 DNS IP addresses (67.19.41.148 and 67.19.40.72) for anything will need to update their entries to the new name servers and IPs listed above.

To avoid all possible downtime on your domains, do not make any DNS changes until we have confirmed here in the forums that the cpanel52 account transfers have been completed.

Those that are using the cpanel52 gzo.com name servers (dns7/dns8 and dns103/dns104) without IPs, do not need to change anything. They will be updated to the new IPs automatically.

We advise all users to disable anything involving MySQL updates (order forms, forums, CMS, etc.) until it is up and running on the new server. This will avoid updates being lost during the transfer and ending up with a database that is out of sync. If this is not an option, you can leave everything active, cpanel52 will still be online for a few days following the upgrade. But you will be responsible for transferring any database updates that might be needed.

As a result of this upgrade you will no longer be able to access WHM on cpanel52.

All cpanel52 customers should now be able to login to WHM on cpanel71 with the same login information as they used for cpanel52. Please do not do anything with this yet, however, as the domain accounts have not been transfered yet.

If you login to the customer control panel and view your welcome e-mail, it should now list cpanel71 as your server.

We're now transferring accounts from cpanel52 to cpanel71. This process may take 24 hours or so to complete.

All accounts have now been transfered. You should now change your DNS/nameservers to the new cpanel71 nameservers if necessary.

You may need to re-install SSL certificates on the new server (cpanel71). If you purchased one from us simply submit a ticket and we can re-install it for you.

If you're experiencing any HTTP or PHP related problems please see the information below.

During this upgrade we will be using cPanel's newly stable EasyApache 3 (EA3). Doing so does result in some minor changes that you should take note of:

1. Directory Indexes - The new default listing for directory index files is the following:

DirectoryIndex index.htm index.html index.shtml index.xhtml index.wml index.perl index.pl index.plx index.ppl index.cgi index.jsp index.js index.jp index.php4 index.php3 index.php index.phtml default.htm default.html home.htm

If you happen to have more than one index file (which is generally not recommended) and need them to display in a different order then you will need to add a DiretoryIndex line to your domain's .htaccess file. For almost all users, this won't need to be changed.

2. PHP AddHandlers - The correct AddHandler statements for PHP will be the following:

For PHP 4:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php4 .php

Note that there is now a 4 on the end, prior to the upgrade it has been x-httpd-php for PHP 4.

For PHP 5 it is the same as before:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

PHP 4 will still be the default version used on all servers unless you specifically have your .htaccess file setup to use PHP 5 instead.

HTTP on cpanel52 will be disabled on Saturday, 6/21/08. Please be sure that all DNS updates are made prior to that.
