We are proud to officially announce that our new geographically redundant name servers are live!
These new name servers function separately from our existing hosting servers. If your hosting server experiences problems, is upgraded, or has to be migrated these name servers will continue to respond and will not have to be changed. Currently we are operating two of these which are located in Dallas, TX (ns1) and Washington, DC (ns2). More locations will be added as necessary.
The process for adding domains or managing DNS records has not changed. Any changes that you make on your hosting server via WHM, cPanel, etc. are automatically synchronized to the name servers immediately.
The new name servers are:
ns1.gzo.com [67.228.46.56]
ns2.gzo.com [174.37.246.244]
If you are using our existing gzo.com name servers, you are already using the new name servers. The IP addresses of all previous gzo.com name servers were changed over to the new system within the past few weeks. As such, if you are using any of our gzo.com name servers you do not need to make any changes. However, you may want to change over to the new ns1/ns2 addresses just for the sake of simplicity.
Those of you that are using custom name servers should change them over to the new ns1/ns2 IP addresses as soon as possible. While the existing IP addresses will continue to function as before, if something were to happen to your hosting server you would not have the benefits of our new name servers. The IP addresses must be changed at the registrar for the domain that you are using as the name servers. The A records for your custom name servers must also be updated and in most cases you'll need to submit a ticket requesting that we do this.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to post here on our forums or submit a ticket and we'll gladly address them.
