20 mins was just the file upload to the backup account - about 70MBs over DSL. The domain still has to propagate. I was looking to speed up the up the domain change but the client is happy the way it is now. Reading sdjl comment, I guess I can't do much better. Last domain change took a little over 4 hours. Guess that's $32 a year well spent.

Don't .com domains change instantly now just like .us? I know it may still take an hour or so for the ISPs to pick it up, but still, not much time.

I have found though, that it can take up to three hours for it to propogate across the internet.
Still, three hours isn't too bad compaired to 24-48 if you do it at the registrar level

I use EASY DNS and when you make a change it's FAST I have seen it within 1 hours repointing to the new location.

They are certainly more expensive but it's ROCK SOLID with 4 backup connections around the world you don't have any worries... that is for sure they are great .... much like Dathorn, great at what they do......
