Relay Server / Proxy Server

Is it allowed and possible to set up a simple relay/proxy server so that I can VPN through my NAT firewall without opening ports to do this directly?

If yes to both: is there any OSS available or commercial packages? Thanks.

This will only be used for private communications and remote desktop control.
