Sounds like new customers get a better deal than loyal repeat customers

I have no complaints whatsoever with Dathorn's service. They have been wonderful and very quick to respond to trouble tickets. They are the best!

I previously paid the $5 for double bandwidth. But that was a special deal for current customers who had been loyal to Dathorn.

This new deal is FREE to new customers (they don't have to pay anything extra above the same monthly fees we pay now). But current loyal repeat customers have to pay the $5 extra.

Sounds similar to what cell phone companies do -- offering a better deal to strangers (brand new customers) than their current family of customers who helped make them what they are today.

That's a standard practice in business. Its an incentive to lure new customers to your service. At least Dathorn gives us an opportunity to get the same deal with a nominal fee. I doubt it really covers the cost of manually inputting the upgrade.

I don't know what technical time at a data center is billed at, but I have seen plans where you pay $150 a month and then pay "just" $40 an hour after the first hour. Getting it done for $5 is a great deal.

It varies greatly. I've spent hours processing them. They will all get done eventually. The current ones should all be done by this evening anyways.

If you receive increased services, paying for them is fair. New customers have not had the previous benefits. Consider increased bandwidth over the number of months we've received it - we're talking less than $1.00 per month. Going forward, that number continues to drop.

Every business has overhead, and if they fail to meet their cash requirements, they're not in business. Where does that leave us? The upgrade service is a convenience. I'm not sure about anyone else, but the cost in looking for a new provider is far beyond $5.

            Thanks Andrew.

You could always just sign up for a new account and get the deal for "Free" then just "tranfer" your accounts over. Or skip the hassel and pay $5 for the upgrade.

Honestly I really don't see how $5 is an issue here. It would be one thing if the upgrade cost more money, but $5? That's hardly even a fast food meal.

Thanks Andrew & The Support Guys @ Dathorn for benig my BEST webhost EVER!

Dathorn is well worth the price

In my previous post, I wasn't advocating changing providers. I love Dathorn and their reliability. Even if prices went up, I would stay with Dathorn because I trust them to take care of me. They have proved it to me.

This has nothing to do with the $5. The dollar amount is not really important.

It's this Marketing Concept (someone said it was standard business practice) that new customers should get a better deal (no matter what the deal is) than your regular loyal repeat customers.

I think that's a terrible marketing concept. My repeat customers are much more important to me than an unknown new customer.

As longtime University of Texas football coach Darryl Royal said, "Dance with the one who brung ya."

Would I be correct to assume that we are only allowed to double our bandwidth once? If you signed up the last time, are you eligible to sign up again?

Please re-read the thread in our announcements forum. If you already went for the previous double bandwidth special, your bandwidth won't be doubled again, only your disk space will be.

How do we tell the limits on our current reseller account. I can see in WHM how much space and bandwidth that have been allocated to each client domain (account), but where can we see the totals whether used or not for our entire reseller account?

                      Thanks.

                        unclear on payment requirements

if we paid to increase bandwith a few months ago for that promotion--- do we need to pay again to increase disk space as well--?-- Or simply request via trouble ticket....

In other words I paud $5 a few months ago for bandwith promotion -- do I need to pay $5 more now for a total of $10... which would be ok-- just wanting to know.

Hmm... I sent a trouble ticket in earlier today and I've yet to get a response on my upgrade. If I don't get a response by midnight, will I still be eligible for the upgrade?

There are just over 250 of them still waiting to be processed. Please re-read the post regarding this special in our announcements forum. So long as your ticket is submitted prior to the special expiring you will get the special. It may take several days for your ticket to be processed.
