Our meteorologists are actually wanting one to come our way (south Texas), it's been so dry here. So long as it's a tropical storm I won't mind, hurricanes are a different story.
Ugh hope it doesn't strike your area, Buddha
Hmm maybe Cuba will slow it down and it'll fizzle out.
Nefadol, trust us- even a tropical storm or depression is bad LOL.
Though I wouldn't mind (no 'fense to non-Floridians) these things
take a vaction from FL and hit other parts of the states instead

I've been through many a tropical storm. We've already had two severe bouts of thunderstorms that had winds up to hurricane force this summer, 45 mph gusts without tropical activity is actually not rare in the least.
I live on the coast, so we just get a quick pounding (plus we're behind a barrier island that takes majority of the hit). I've only been through one hurricane, which was a category one. Anything over a two and I'm leaving. Believe me, growing up here it's ingrained into your brain to take storms seriously.
We're starting to have the problem that Florida has with a lot of older people moving here (who aren't very educated on hurricanes). A lot of them are moving to Padre Island, which is the last place you want to be during a storm. I'm just waiting until a major storm comes through and levels everything. It's not going to be pretty.
I'm working in PR this week. Dennis is about 400 miles South of us. The satellite movies make it look much worse but we are getting lashed with occasional heavy rains. Hope it doesn't organize too well over the next day or two..but its big and moving fast. With a little luck when I fly into Miami on Saturday I'll have a nice view of it from the air. Otherwise, it's gonna get worse.
This is the first recorded instance of 4 storms by 5 July. Never happened before and July just started. The first one last year was in August...THE FIRST ONE.
My mom was wanting me to take my vacation this summer to drive down with her to visit all her relatives in FL. Now I have another, more solid reason to say "NO!" (other than I don't know if I can stand a week with her, espically the 12 hour drive from St. Louis, MO to Pace, FL) *Shudders even thinking about it*
Hah, this is awesome. I've been in Florida just shy of two weeks and have had nothing but crap weather since I arrived. Dennis is heading straight for my house. I love Florida already
I live in Santa Rosa county and of course, Dennis landed on Santa Rosa island a little to the west of Navarre. I'm in Atlanta right now and will probably be heading back to FL in a day or two to check out the damage.
We already got a fifth one! $#@FREGVD this is gonna be just like last year!
FYI I renamed the topic- no sense to keep making new ones for
each storm if its like last year
