Anyone with Charter Cable in the STL area READ (speeds upped)

If anyone has Charter cable in the stl area, please run a speed test and make sure you are capped @ 3.2 mbit. There was a prob last week when they updated some bad config files are out there on modems that basically uncapped them. Make sure you are capped. If anyone offers you an upcapper dont use it.

Charter is marking all modems that are uncapped and they are being placed in line for disconnect, then banning from their services (eeek). The uncapping can be done on purpose, so if you had it done, undo it, or loose your cable.

I have a friend who works for Charter, and he was askin me if I had uncapped (I didnt even know it was possible), then told me about that.

    So word of warning.

And oh yah, speed tests for me show 405k downstream speed/ 33k upstream!!!

Yay!! Real Broad band is back again!!!

I had that uncap before. About 5 yrs ago i think, when i was living in toronto (oshawa). I was using Rogers (www.rogers.ca). My upstream was capped at 50KB/sec and after the uncap my upstream was pushing over 100KB/sec.

Is this the one where you have to change the gateway (i think) to using a 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address?

In Australia all cable is uncapped, it's just that we've got download limits of about 10GB

Yes, as of mid week last week. I know IL is getting a new QAM (for upstream)

And you used to be able (like two years ago) uncap your modem (sufboard4100) by fooling it to grab your own config file off your pc to uncap (to full 10mbit each way). That method worked for over two months.
