    Paid PayPal Referral Commissions?

One of our customers brought this idea to me and I wanted to get some more opinions on it. Instead of receiving account credits for referrals, would you be interested in receiving the payments via PayPal?

I guess the only potential downside would require you to have a PayPal account but I think most people do and it's not difficult to set one up at all.

    I'm the culprit

    Hello everyone,

I'm the culprit to this and I hope it was time well spent since I have
been pestering Andrew through the ticket system about possibly making the
the current referral program an actual paid affiliate program.

Thank you for listening Andrew and I hope we can make this happen!

    Regards,

Sounds interesting, but with the amount Paypal takes in fee's I'd rather it just go towards my bill with Dathorn.

That's just it, I think this would only be a big benefit to those customers that will be continually referring many people and don't need several months worth of account credit.

If you have a personal Paypal account there is no fee to receive funds.
Get detailed information about PayPal's consumer fees. Find PayPal's prices for sending or receiving money, internationally or domestically.

It's only if you have a premier or business account, then there is a minimal fee.

I know from experience that many marketers don't mind being paid
through PP - I'm one of them

Might be a good idea to have both systems set up. #1 For those that like to refer a few people every now and then and get a credit #2 for Marketers who have lists of subscribers who can generate multiple clients per month and like to be compinsated for it.

PayPal charges Premier and Business accounts to receive payments. Personal accounts are free, but may not receive debit or credit card payments.
If Dathorn paid out via a Credit Card, then you wouldn't be able to recieve any payments. They would have to have a positive "cash" balance in their account to pay out.

I personally don't like keeping large sums of money in my paypal account. I mainly use it for donations for my one site, payment method for like the 2 people I host sites for, and to pay for my BNC/Shell Accounts (IRC).

                  Hey Chris,

                  I see you're point.

Maybe the suggestion about having both systems might be a possibility.

Generally, if an affiliate program is set up to pay via PP -- it usually means the payer, (Dathorn in this case) would have a paypal account of their own to make payments with. Not with a CC

Both systems would still be available. I was just interested to see if anyone would actually be interested in the PayPal method.

its interesting, but I have another idea about this:

why not pay for life of account? here's what its look like:
I reffer basic customer, and dathorn will pay me $$ each month as long as customer stay. it should not be one month full credit, it can be any $.

That could be an option as well, but then you'd be looking at a MUCH smaller amount per month, maybe 10%? Some may not be around long enough to gain that full 100%.

I think you can call my idea as Affiliate Program, and as long as they stay with dathorn, we get 10%~20% of all their payments. I like this more than 1 time payment.

this is what is done on many other affiliation programs.

The problem is that PayPal is not available everywhere (outside US). For example, they have banned Russia from their list and it's cathegorically forbidden to create an account if you are geographically located in Russia, even if you have a valid VISA Classic card etc.
