should dathorn double or triple disk space & bandwith...

this is not only about dathorn, but resselers & virtual hosting providers at large..

Two years ago when i signed up with dathorn, the hosting plans came with good value for my money.

As an example other local mainstream hosting companies were offering say 100 mb disk space regular accounts, so with the basic dathorn hosting plan, one might offer 20 of those...

Though dathorn has doubled its hosting plans in 2005, todays concurrence is much bigger and mainstream companies offer plans beggining from 1gigs with
    other advantages, mail etc...

So today I could say offer 4 'regular' accounts instead of 20 for the same dathorn basic plan...

If it wasn't for the personalisation, advanced options and the ok support I would ask my clients to choose their hosting company by their own...

do you think dathorn/ virtual hosting providers will keep up the race with competitivity and how are you handling that?

thinking of getting your own dedicated server or redirecting your clients to mainstream hosting providers...?

It's still a good deal for the money. With higher offerings, you see more abuse, and usually lower performance. I'd rather that Dathorn NOT take the Site5 approach, and destroy their company. I had looked at Site5 and Dathorn at the same time when looking for my reseller account, and I can say I'm very glad I choose Dathorn.

I'm going to have to get a dedicated server eventually for a few sites that are close to needing it, just putting it off until hopefully *fingers crossed* Andrew gets all the servers moved over and offers up some Dedicated servers.
Hosting at Dathorn since March 2003!

With Godaddy and 1and1 offering 100 GB of disk space and 1000 GB Transfer
for less then $ 7 we realy need more disk space and bandwidth to stay compativie.

There is a lot more to a web hosting service than simply the amount of bandwidth and disk space you are allocated.

You cannot realistically offer 250GB of bandwidth per month for $3/month (1and1.com). This is just one example of the ridiculous overselling that many hosts do. They offer you these high allocations based on the mere fact that they will never get used and if you're not going to use it then you certainly don't need it.

We're not here to be the cheapest and we're not here to offer the most resources. We're here to provide an overall high quality hosting service. We have bumped up our plans before and we will certainly do it again but we're not here to compete merely on that.

AMEN and THANK GOD, I will glady pay for the service I get here at Dathorn it's worth it ...... see topic about boring here at Dathorn......

It's not about the size it's how you use it , it's very inexpensive here to start... and I don't compete on price with my clients on my web design, my consulting or my dogs, it's all about the product and the support after the sale there are lots of people cheaper out there the internet is full of them...anything you want you can find cheaper on the internet.... if people talk to me about price, price, price, I advise them I am to busy to serve them

People pay me good money for my services and if they bitch about something, I deal with it, fairly, quickly and always in a professional manner. Worse case I give them their money back and wash my hands of them.... to many clients are willing to pay for service.
          Cheers,

Personally, I don't think I pay Andrew enough for his service. How much is "Peace of Mind" worth? Priceless. Hard to find the top notch service Dathorn offers anywhere these days.

I have to agree with buddha. And the few sites I have hosted for others have been mostly unused in terms of space and bandwidth (but thats just me). They all want bigger and better but then never utilise it, and I guess I do too as my dathorn account far outweighs my needs. But I work on a trawler and am gone for weeks at a time. I have my wife check my sites/emails for me and NOT ONCE has she rang me and told me theres a problem. dathorn can't be beaten in my opinion
