I was just curious as to the feasibility of having an upgrade path which would allow folks to request more of one resource (bandwidth or disk space) in lieu of the other. So, with these extra upgrade paths, you might have a selection of plans that looks like this (new plans bold, pricing arbitrary):
Basic A- $13.50
4GB Disk Space
60GB Bandwidth
Basic B - $17
6GB Disk Space
60GB Bandwidth
Basic C - $17
4GB Disk Space
90GB Bandwidth
Business A- $20.25
6GB Disk Space
90GB Bandwidth
Business B - $23.75
8GB Disk Space
90GB Bandwidth
Business C - $23.75
6GB Disk Space
120GB Bandwidth
etc....
Although, that might not be such a hot idea though since that creates a lot more new account types to keep track of.
Alternatively, how about making all the pricing modular? e.g., each GB of disk space is a certain $/mo, and the same with each X amount of bandwidth. So if you want just 10GB of bandwidth, and 100GB of disk space, you could do so. And on Dathorns end, I think that might avoid the billing confusion, because it'd just appear that each customer was ordering multiple quantities of just two products -- bandwidth and storage.
I haven't kept up with bandwidth/storage prices over the last few years, so for all I know there might only be a profit margin on disk space and not bandwidth, or vice versa. Or I could just be trying to fix something that isn't broken...
Anyway, this just popped into my head earlier this morning and I thought I'd mention it.
