IP's not resolving to names = Problem ?

Just trying to find out from others, if having an ip address that doesnt resolve back to a name causes problems or not.

I have charter cable. And my current ip address won't resolve to a name.
It used to resolve to something like BV1-24.xxx.xxx.xxx.chater-stl.com
Now its just the ip. When Im on a router it gives me just an IP address, but if Im on just the modem, it gives me a resolvable ip address. I've tried different routers, ect, same result. If a router => non-resolvable ip. If on modem => ip resolves just fine. There are various C class ip ranges on charter that do not resolve.

    Im currently on 24.171.121.xxx

I've called their tech support and they say right away, it causes no problems, but as soon as I got one of these addresses, when loading a website, it will goto page cannot be found right away. It wont even take the time to search for it. I know of at least 2 other people on Charter cable (in the STL area) that have this issue, as well as my boss (SBC DSL)

I work for a small ISP, and KNOW it causes issues. My buddy who works for Charter laughs @ me when I say it causes problems. Gehh...anyone else have this issue?

Interesting, I'll have to see what mine does now when I get back to STL in a couple of weeks (I have Charter as well).
