    dathorn dedicated servers

this is something i've seen mentioned here and there, along with a big "maybe", my question is if this is something being seriously considered by dathorn, and if so any ball park idea of when. I realise you are knee deep with work anyway with backups etc, but it's something i would be very interested in and would hold off buying a ded plan somewhere else if i could get one here.

    thanks

The last I've heard Andrew mention it, I wouldn't count on having servers available anytime soon. I believe it's on his list of things to do, just not at the top.

It would be a good option for those of us who don't really want to get lost in one of the big companies, but plan to grow our businesses past the shared server stage. With Andrew's attention to detail, a managed server plan (or shared server plan with 1/2 a server) would be attractive at $150 or so per month.

I know you can get a server for $89 and up per month, but when you look at the requirements for configuring and maintaining it, the extra $60 a month is not a bad deal. Of course, for Dathorn, it may not be worth it compared to the reseller plans.

This is not yet something that we've decided on. If we do venture into this market, it definetly won't be a cheap solution - quite a bit more expensive than many of the other popular dedicated server providers.

I'll keep an eye open for when you do make any further decisions

if it requires you to increase the regular resller plans a doller or so im for it whether or not i buy a dedicated or not.

but i do understand their are things that need to be done now, i think the guy wants a time frame, like will it take a year to do? whats the forcast of when u might make a decision (not the answer just a date of when u might think) or is it more of a question of somthing differnt like, we have this this and that, can we do this. etc. u know.

It has nothing to do with regular reseller plans. It's an entirely new market, and if it cannot make a decent profit on it's own then there's no point in expanding into. That's what is being considered and I wouldn't expect anything for at least a couple of months as it really isn't a priority right now. We want to get all existing servers upgraded first.

Thanks for that, Andrew! One reason I love it here.
