    Create Thumbnails of HTML Pages???

Anyone have an easier way of creating thumbnails of HTML pages? I have Paint Shop Pro, but it will take a while to slog through the 400 or so I have to display, capture, and then resize.

The only package I've found is HTML2JPG at www.html2jpg.com, but it runs 185 Euro (which is what, about $220US?)

How desperate are you? I think That Perl script might be good for someone who has gotten to a level of desperation where their judgement is impaired and they don't find it's description discouraging.

How about that khtml2png program but it only runs on Linux with KDE?

      Printkey 2000

There's a great little freeware Windows Print-Screen utility call Printkey 2000. It will do the job quickly and easily. It might be a little hard to find on the Internet because later versions became commercial, I think. Maybe someone else has an active link to it.

There are some good "print screen" types out there, and Paint Shop Pro works great for making screen shots as well. I was wondering if there was a utility that would recursively work down through subdirectories and make thumbnails of every HTML page in the directory tree. The only one I've found that will do it without a lot of work is the commerical product (and I don't know anyone who has actually used it.)

I keep thinking of those guys like Monster Templates ... how do they make all those thumbnails? Certainly its not a guy pressing a hot key, loading the screen image in the graphics program, and then resizing the image. But maybe they are!

url2bmp is a free little utility that might help you out. At the site select the English version - unless you read French then go to the download page. It doesn't work its way through the links of a site, but does create a bmp of each address you enter.

screen capture or any portion of any photo or image

            I use Ultra Snap
            Ultra Snap
            Examples:
            80x50 image of this page
            320x200 image of this page

This was done with an unregistered trial version
The registered version is great for making tutorial because you can highlight the needed dialog box or any portion of it and add text and arrows in color.
They also have other photo and images/logo/vector/media CdRom and DVD autorun presentation bundle for $145. including Ultra Snap.
Capture to Clipboard and paste into PaintShopPro or PhotoShop or any Image program. Just set the size you want and choose sharpen or other effects and Hot Key...Fill up the PaintShop window if you want...with annotation.

There is no need for any specific tool to make snapshot of a site. Just make browser window in focus and press Ctrl+PrintScren. Windw snapshot will be placed in clipboard.

Go to PhotoShop, click new (it will create new document matching size of document in clipoard, then Ctrl+V and there it is). Other applications will act similarly, at least they will be able to paste from clipboard.

If I understood well, man asked for sometool that will allow him to automaticaly create thumbnails for large nuber of sites. Well... several days ago I noticed info about such tool on some other forum but since it did not interest me, I cannot recall what it is.

Try NetVisualize. It is not intended for such purpose but it does create thumbnails of sites so you may use it in some way. www.netvisualize.com/products.html

If one has PhotoShop, then I think they'd be more inclined to create an action or droplet and be done with it.

Yep, Pedja, you understand the problem! Loading 400 web pages in my browser one at a time, pressing CTRL-Printscreen, and then pasting it into PaintShop Pro, resizing, saving as a thumbnail could take some time! PaintShop Pro does provide a means to load a screen capture utility that will save the images by pressing a hot key, but then I'm still loading each HTML page into the browser first.

URL2BMP does look promising ... as soon as I get my new client's site up and running I'll try it (downloaded it last night).

Errrm .. I did. It was your post immediately preceeding mine that I was referring too.

If you're going to Print-Screen your screen shots and paste them into PhotoShop (which I believe you implied), save 'em out as is, and then batch / script the whole shootin' match.

Sure, that is the easy part and may be done in several manners. Problem is snapshooting web site. Interesting issue.

                          Interesting idea for a product...

Do you think that a product that can take a listing of URL's and pump out thumbnail sized images has a market? If anything more, this is an interesting idea for a product.... Hmmm......

Nice to see you back RC!

Looks like there might be a market. There are a number of products avialable but they are rather costly.

Thanks Buddha! Been lurkin for a while... then the forums were gone for a while.. and now, well I have a few minutes to breath. ;-)

I guess Andrew retired InVision.... this IS much nicer ;-)

Anyway, I'll be lurking about... and perhaps may even code a WebThummer in the coming days / weeks...

                              Cheers...
