HTMLArea is an open source project of Interactive Tools, a company that also produces a script I like very much, PagePublisher.
PagePublisher handles the login/logout functions and presents an interface much like the one at the MSN groups sites. Its $99 per site, but they do offer branding now, so you can charge your customers for it. They are at http://www.interactivetools.com/products/pagepublisher/Comment
