Are WYSIWYG editors replacing the textarea?

I've been a considering using HTMLarea or TypeTool for administrative content entry and would like to know what other think of this kinds of WYSIWYG editors? Are they ready for your average non-techie client?

Not just CMS but where ever you would normally use a textarea to enter HTML.

I use a textarea, wrappers, and plain html is allowed in the text box (just certain tags though)

HTMLArea is an open source project of Interactive Tools, a company that also produces a script I like very much, PagePublisher.

PagePublisher handles the login/logout functions and presents an interface much like the one at the MSN groups sites. Its $99 per site, but they do offer branding now, so you can charge your customers for it. They are at http://www.interactivetools.com/products/pagepublisher/
