    Check whats in accounts??

Erm, hi sorry im new to this sort of thing, and well Im only hosting three people but I dont want too loose my account and am concerned that posibly copyrighted material or somthing may be stored in one of my users accounts.

Well probablly nothing atall, but I was wondering how do u check if your users are sticking to your terms and conditions???

Or do u just wait for dathorn to find somthing dodgy in an account and does it all get suspended???

THis is probablly a pointless concern, but I was wondering, I did a quick search of the forums but didnt find anything, just give me a link if its been discussed before. As well Im not sure how to check, or if u can check? Like have it display a list of files in ausers account?? Im not sure sorry if its already been discussed but Im new, and well couldnt find it!

    Cheers.

Edit: I wasnt sure were to post this ither? So I hope im in the right place?

    its alright
And yes this is the correct spot.

As for this-- I am not 100% sure...
I have few (paid hosting) sites, as I admit this
is 90% for my personal sites...

However, I'm not sure there is a way 2do this...
For me, I just simply troll their sites every blue moon...

You can also log into their CPanel and look for yourself using the file manager as well. Log in using their login and your reseller (WHM) password.

While your there down load their log file and then look for MB size files. Good idea to check the logs once in a while for security problems too.

If I recall well, even Dathorn stuff does not bother about sniffing clients space for unallowed contents but respond to complaints. Why should we act differently? If someone files complaint I am sure Dathorn stuff will ask you to remove it, you may ask your client or simply remove it on your own. That should be enough. I hope Dathorn stuf will tolerate some time you need to react about complaint.

Everything else is just quessing. We should hear from Andrew what he expects from us.

Andrew did on the old BB, it might be worth him repeating it.

However, according to the TOS (which many of us have adopted):

                      14. Notification of Violation:
                      a. DIS is under no duty to look at each customer's or user's activities to determine if a violation of the AUP has occurred, nor do we assume any responsibility through our AUP to monitor or police Internet- related activities.

                      b. First violation: Any User, which DIS determines to have violated any element of this Acceptable Use Policy, shall receive an email, warning them of the violation. The service may be subject at DIS's discretion to a temporary suspension pending a User's agreement in writing, to refrain from any further violations.

                      c. Second Violation: Users that DIS determines to have committed a second violation of any element of this Acceptable Use Policy shall be subject to immediate suspension or termination of service without further notice.

                      15. Suspension of Service or Cancellation:

DIS reserves the right to suspend network access to any customer if in the judgment of the DIS network administrators the customer's account is the source or target of the violation of any of the other terms of the AUP or for any other reason which DIS chooses. If inappropriate activity is detected, all accounts of the Customer in question will be deactivated until an investigation is complete. Prior notification to the Customer is not assured. In extreme cases, law enforcement will be contacted regarding the activity. The customer will not be credited for the time the customer's account was suspended. The customer will also not be credited for any fees if their account has been terminated.
According to the TOS, it's not necessary for Dathorn to look. However, Dathorn also doesn't have time either. I would say the lower your price the more closer you need to watch your costumers. The difference is in who gets the complaint, Dathorn or you. If Dathorn gets numerous complaints (or just one) about your customers then Dathorn may have no choice but Cancel your account. Of course, if you get the complaint you have to handle it otherwise the person complaining may look elsewhere to Dathorn or other legal recourse.

I manage my customers websites but even so I've recieved complaints. All of them have been BS but I have gotten to know my customers Attorneys. Of course get to know any Attorney will always cost you time if not money.

                      That just my 2 cents.

If you really want to see what users have, you can sign up for the backup service dathorn offers. I use the daily backup service and its great. I can retrieve files for my clients. So with that, it will give you access to all there files they had as of the last backup made.
