Depending on what you want to use it for, or if you're just learning, I would go with SwishMax.. Does a lot of the stuff that Flash does, at a lot cheaper price ($99, last I saw)....
My Opinion, the only reason to get Flash over swish is if you plan to create very complex animations and have the desire to become a Flash programmer.
If all you need to do is create banners, moderately complex animations get Swish.
To me, Flash is like photoshop. It takes allot of time and frequent use to get proficient with it...otherwise your spending money on power you're never going to use.

I agree...I purchased swishmax a while back and I own Studio MX. I just like how quickly I can produce a quick .swf with Swish.
I don't personally care for the interface in Flash... BUT then I don't have any interest in coding with it either. For what I do, I use SwishMax and LOVE it. But if you have the head space for Flash, it's probably your best bet. But if you're like me... and don't want to invest all that time for the sake of eye candy.... and you're not interested in any serious Flash development... then go with Swish(max).
