    How do you like Dathorn?

I'm a new comer here. I'm currently using another hosting company, but I'm growing out of it. I'm attractted to dathorn because of the large size (2gb) and the cheap price. I was just wondering what the other users have to say about dathorn.
Is it reliable? How have your experiences with dathorn been?

Your input would be greatly appreicated!

Can't say my stay here hasn't had ups and downs. I've been here more than a year. Started on cp03 that was 2 servers ago. However, every problem has been taken care of as quickly as possible. Dathorn may only support the servers but they do a very good job at it.

I've been very happy with the service and support and more importantly my client is happy too. Peace and quiet, priceless.

I have been here since March '03 on CP08 and its been great. I know some other servers have had some problems, but Andrew and team work there best to resolve issues in my opinion. I am here because of the service provided, and of course the price.

Most of the problems were related to cPanel updates, problems have been few .... I can't even remember the last one ... since automatic cPanel updates were discontinued. Client has only noticed one downtime in the last year. That was during the last move from cp6 to cp33.

I think both, movabletype and gallery, will work here - but Dathorn does have phpsuexec. Don't use either of them so maybe someone else can be more definite?

Moveabletype does work - I have at least one client using it.

I've been with dathorn for over a year - probably closer to 1.5years.

Their support has been great, and it's good to see the number of support techs increasing as the number of servers increases.

I have been required to move from my original server (cp07) to a new server in theplanet (cp33), but the move was handled very well - we had ample notice of the move, and tech support was there along the way to help out.

These forums are very good for general questions too!

All in all, if I wasn't completely happy with Dathorn I would have already moved by now

              7months since Jan this year
Longest I've been with any host, paid or free

              Awesome support, quick replies;
good uptime (April and May had 100% uptime for cPanel31!!)

Great so far, I've only been here 2 months. My last host was okay, but kind of sluggish, especially with FTP and SSH. Dathorn is lightning fast. My old host was so reliably slow when uploading that I thought that was normal. The website was fast though. Anyway, the first time I uploaded something here I was like WOW, and SSH connects almost instantly. My sites are always really fast too. With this kind of uptime and stability I'll be here a long time.

And as someone else mentioned, these forums are great. Nice and busy for a hosting site. Most of the forums on hosting sites I've tried are useless for any kind of meaningful response.

What is phpsuexec? What does that mean to me? As far as I know, I only need php. What's the different?

For gallery, I'm going to need php4, mod_rewrite, NetPBM and imagemagick.
and for movabletype, just php, mysql, will do...

                      moliu,

                      This may help you:
This thread contains information regarding some of the basic differences that you may encounter between running php as CGI with suexec and running php as an apache module. What is the difference? Most sites will not be affected with the change, running php as cgi with suexec. Phpsuexec works in much the same way that cgi

I've got Gallery running fine on about 7 accounts.

FWIW: I love it here! I probably would never move unless one of my sites got too big for a shared environment (too many users / too many processes, etc.) forcing me to go with a VPS or dedicated.
