    slight note

I'm not going to be touching the general discussion
forum again; seems me being a teen, god forbid,
as angered a couple local people.

If you need me-- I'll be on in all the other
off-topic forums and the support ones ^^

Also I deleted my last post in the Google vs Yahoo! topic.
If anybody truly cares what it is....

    no, I give up!
I was merely stating this is kinda wwwwwwwwwwwway past "off-topic"
and was wondering if u wanted a new topic!!

You know I often incorrectly state things, yet you
seem to ignore this and pretend not to notice and just
go in for a harsh comment! And people call ME immature?!?

And you know what else? I'm half tempted to lock this
cause personally, I support Bush and I think all your stupid
theories are abunch of BS coming from a stupid democrat!

Now if you can step back for a second, believe it or not!!! *eek*,
from being an jerk for JUST TWO SECONDS and read what I said
and account for the fact I am STILL A TEEN, maybe you'll see...

Then again-- maybe you won't, you
    seem like a democrat jerk...

Well, I didn't think I was out of line, but I apologize for upsetting you. I did not intend to do that.

You also have to consider that I didn't think of you as a teen because, in so many ways, you are a very mature person. Its kind of like the kid in 3rd grade that's a foot taller than everyone else ... he's always expected to be more mature because he looks like an older kid. So I'm sorry about that too.

By the way, I'm sure I've been a Republican longer than you've been alive (I first voted for President Ford when he ran against Jimmy Carter). Protection from government intrusion and excesses has been a concern of all small-r republicans (i.e., "Americans", meaning Whig, Democrat and then later Republican party members) since this nation's founding. Don't mistake a general distrust of power amassed in the hands of a few to simply the left. I would have to change sides, then, as it is the over-riding issue of all time.

I just got alot of crap going on right now, and being a teen is diff now days
and its like I come here to power down my brain and just post "no brainers"
but I feel as if I'm not allowed to do so w/o offending someone...see my point?

And yes-- I do know I have no right/priviledge/etc. to
bring all this BS I'm hauling onto these forums...

And I do aplogize for being dramatic w/e --
it seems this is the best way I can express my emotions...

          Jonathan,

I have been around for quite some time; if truth be told, 3.5 times longer than you, longer than I wish to remember. In fact, I may very well be one of the oldest members of this forum.

I’ve been around computers for quite some time. Programming in PL/1 on IMB Behemoth in the late 60’s and squeezing code into Commodore 64 in the 80’s. I will be the first to admit, having seen some of your work, I can most probably learn quite a lot from you. You on the other hand may gain some insight from the experience of others.

In one of your previous posts you expressed an interest in history, so I will plaster this post with quotations through the ages.

Who is clever? – He who learns from his mistakes.
Who is wise? – He who learns from the mistakes of others.
          Ancient Hebrew Sages
So bear with me, you may learn from mine too.

My mother-in-law calls me about twice a week with the panic message: “My internet doesn’t work”. The old lady is too impatient to follow a troubleshooting routine over the phone and too agitated to follow the routine written in a folder next to her PC. That results in me going over to her apartment twice a week, and on, usually Mondays – after the cleaning lady was there – plug the modem back into the phone socket or – and this can be any day of the week - click the “dail-up” icon to reestablish the connection. So, after months of recurring failures, a snide remark left my lips. The next thing I knew; I was too young to understand, immature, insensitive and worse. Yes, older people are like this. Some when angered will respond to unwelcome criticism from a younger person with infantile, childish, juvenile, adolescent, immature etc…

Elderly people and those in authority cannot always be relied upon to take enlightened and comprehending views of what they call the indiscretions of youth.
          Winston Churchill
Be that as it may, the litmus test of immaturity is not in the accusation but in the response. If I would have replied: “Who are you calling immature? You are too stupid to plug in the modem” or been offended and sulked in a corner, there could be a good case made for immaturity. (Does this ring a bell – Jonathan?)

They (Young People) have exalted notions, because they have not been humbled by life or learned its necessary limitations; moreover, their hopeful disposition makes them think themselves equal to great things -- and that means having exalted notions. They would always rather do noble deeds than useful ones: Their lives are regulated more by moral feeling than by reasoning -- all their mistakes are in the direction of doing things excessively and vehemently. They overdo everything -- they love too much, hate too much, and the same with everything else.
          Aristotle
I assume that even Aristotle learned the hard way too.

Being a father, I love this quote -:

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.

          Josh Billings

Josh Billings is the pen name of Henry Wheeler. His father, Henry Shaw, served in the Massachusetts State Senate for 25 years. Billings was a renowned humorist in his day, and better known and appreciated than his contemporary, Mark Twain.

If you can’t laugh with it, laugh at it!
If you can't do that, laugh it off!
If this can’t be done - look right through it!
          It does not exist!

Excellent points Shalom, and I agree.
My sulking (this post) is a just case of immaturity.

I just hope those I offended
can forgive me for my complete immaturity.

              Just a suggestion.....

Jonathan, you might start by being extra cautious you're not using these forums for a personal blog and rant forum. Serious discussion is one thing. Teenage ranting is another. The first will get you respect, the second will get you attention, but it won't be respectful.

A Forum Moderator is supposed to be professional, objective, and always represent the best interests of the management (Dathorn) and the members (the rest of us).

Listen to Shalom. He is very wise, besides being a seriously old guy!

I'll third it; I'm ashamed of my actions...
                  It was...childish, unprofessional, immature, etc.
                  to act as I have...
