Well the new release of FF seems to be problem free so far for me. The older version seemed to be the trouble. Bad coding or something. Still use IE though.

As I spend the rest of the night fixing my mistake I would like to remind everyone to UNINSTALL FF before you update. Don't forget to backup your bookmarks and anything else your fond of having around!

You can find your history and cookies at..

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator [or whichever user]\
Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\garbled name\

Your looking for bookmarks.html and cookies.txt.
For the browser history, save the history.dat file.

Here's a tip to save time, if your concerned your
favorite extentions and such will work for 1.0...

1. Go to: http://64.12.168.243/pub/mozilla.org...0/win32/en-US/
2. Download the .ZIP version if it.
3. Extract to a folder.
4. Make a folder inside the main firefox folder, name it 'profile' (all lower case).
5. Go to the location below* and copy all the files there.
6. Go to the default install of FireFox, copy all the search engine plugins.
7. Open NotePad and paste this: start firefox.exe -Profile "profile/"
8. Save that as 'launch_firefox.bat', to the main folder of the 1.0 vers.

Now try launching the launch_firefox.bat file; it'll take a few seconds
for it to launch, so don't keep clicking (like I did lol).

BTW, you can use the above to make a portable version
of FireFox to smack on your USB Stick Drive.

Firefox must be really be the browser of choice for a lot of users, I can't get near any site that might have updates. They keep timing out.

I use FireFox 1.0PR about 75% of the time. However, there are a few things that need improvement. Two that I can think of offhand:

1) No Google Toolbar available
2) CSS "width:100%" doesn't work

In general, I think CSS renderings are less accurate than with IE.

Got the zip for 1.0, it's my extension I need now. I'm going to bed and try again in the morning. Even with these little update problems FF is still better than IE.

I had to use IE to get that FF zip tonight ... I feel soooo unclean! First time in a couple months I've used IE.

I don't have FF 1.0 yet (I use 1.0PR). The "market watch" thing works fine for me with either FF or IE at 1024x768 resolution. At 800x600 or other resolutions, I made compromises that may or may not look right in IE or FF. This is rather unusual code since I am using CSS to overlay a specific area of an external IFRAME web page.

Another thing I liked with IE was the ability to "freeze" an IFRAME page by using CSS: BODY,HTML { height:100% } This does not work with FF 1.0PR. In the "Alice" frame, if you accidently press the Dn or PgDn keys, the frame contents scroll in FF (not good) but not in IE.

Overall, I like FF a lot better but there are still a number of problems. My internet "Radio" button new page works fine in IE but is all screwed up in FF and does not work. Rather than figure out the problem I think I would rather recreate the app using Flash to make it cross-browser compatible.

This type of Javascript code to preload the CLIPBOARD also does NOT work with FF:

LVZ, just for reference my monitor was on 1024x768. The market watch thing was the only thing that stood out as different between IE and FF. Otherwise the page looked great.
