You must be getting some clear skies, if your 10 x 50 binos are showing you craters on the moon.

If you get several nights in a row, check out the shadows of some of the craters as the moon wanes. Its interesting how they change the "face" of the moon (and next time there's a lunar eclipse, you really get to see it!)

Darn dot is moving fast! Your in the bad location relative to the hurricane, Jonathan. You'll be on the rightside as it moves up, the tornado side, the worse side.

      Good Luck again.

I gots me a secccreeet weapon to tell me that magikal time when
I should have clear skies... *aprox*

Anyways, last night on the advice of someone from the Astronomy.com
forums, I got up early in ze A.M. to check out Orion & Saturn.

Slept in (was gonna get up @ 4AM) - got out at 5:57 or so.
Managed to fairly easily spot Orion's Belt; checked it out, and a little
below it I spotted a "mini-belt", of three objects. Middle was fuzzy,
        so I think I might've bagged M42.. unsure.

Then checked a little bit to my West, spoted M45 pretty easy with naked
eyes (a hazy spot, thought it was clouds) ~ upon inspection, I realized
        I'd found Pleiades, ~ M45.

Max substained is up to 115MPH Oh well, I doubt 4AM will be
puurdy and clear tomorrow morning... curses <_<

As for ze rightside, I'll take that anyday vs. right over me.
Regards! I must build some sort of RSS... read'r writ're thingy... *huh?*

@least I managed to snag two packs of pre-sessoned
Budderball Chicken or whatever ~ so I'm having chicken 2night/2morrow
(It tastes so good, who kares if its cold?)

Besides that, got smart and picked up a $1 Air Mat ~ it works just
as good as a Air Bed, but its cheaper + can use in the water
curse Jeanne, I hope she dies down to a Cat1 before hits shore.

PS: I think its crators... that or some of the "seas".
Hmm oh well, I'm happy snagging M45 and possibly -42

Mom said it looks like one of the news stations are saying that
we're gonna be going through basicly tropical storm force winds.

Roughly the same as Frances or Charly; the catch? Apparently we're
in one of the bad spots, and will be hit with it in advance, during, and
aftwords ~ grand total of something like 28 hours or something

                      <script type="drama" content="ultra/dramatic">

Well, they say it'll start in this area around 11PM and
the worst will be past by something like 2morrow morning or so.

I just ate the last piece of frozen food that'd require cooking; as I sit
here eating these Beagle Bites, I'm starting to hear the wind howl
a little louder and louder; feels kinda spooky, like its my last meal.

Got everything *important* (TV, VCR, DVD, books, etc.) out of
my room... if anything on the house goes, I got bets its that room.

Just got done placing candles on the table, and spreading the flashlights
throughout the house, so there's @least one per room. (minus my bedroom)

We expect to lose power in the night; who knows? I wish the damn printer
would work, I really want to print off several charts for next few days, incase
the chance to use them come up and show themselves.

Oh well; Planisphere & Cambridge Atlas will have to make due, I just hope
that I'll have clear skies ASAP to get in some viewing. Anxious to get back
to M45 and M42; maybe try for NGC-884 & -869. Hmm, M31 would be nice.

I've caught the bug and now it seems torture to be unable to observe.
Oh well; I'm going back to Cartes du Ciel; going to try my best to commite
as many maps as I can to memory before power goes out.

                      </script>

<EDIT> Well 11PM came, and 17mins passed... doesn't seem bad yet.
Hmph, go figure. *Goes to check whats on TV*</EDIT>

Power went out ~ now its back a mere two hours later.
Hmph, what a disappointing storm!* Buddha, how are you doing?

                          * Disappointing from my area, certainly not for others.

Oh well... in other news, I've named the blank area on the
left side of our property: Lake William, after myself (yes, am that egocentric)

Hmm... gotta think up a name for the front (slightly left from center)
of the yard; maybe Lake Dathorn? Lake Hosting? Gotta thing for that one :P

After posting that comment, I lost power up til about 1PM or so. (2day)
Apparently, Jeanne didn't like my comment and decided to take
a final kick @ me before going completely to the grave (in my area)

So, the moral of the story: NEEEVVERR say how your disappointed!
The storms CAN AND WILL HEAR YOU, and will knock out your power for revenge!

Might we assume that Buddha is without power still?

The guy I car pool into work with is still without (and not in a real good mood, uncomfotable ride in this morning)...
