Don't you guys worry about backwards compatibility by converting all your tables to css?

Unless you absolutely have to support Netscape 4, CSS designs can work on IE5, IE5.5, IE6, Mozilla/Firefox, Netscape 7, Opera, Safari, and Konquerer without browser detection or hacks. In fact, because NS4 and older browsers generally ignore CSS, your pages remain usable - they look basic, but work.

The only browser that may cause the odd problem is IE - it's CSS support has fallen way behind the competition.

Going back to lilcam's question - stick with tables for the moment but try to shrink the image files. CSS designs mean thinking about the page in new way. I'd recommend you attempt to convert individual sections to CSS and build on your experience.

The more you use CSS, the more you'll like it. Your site design is ideal for a CSS layout - given time, you should be able to remove nearly every table. It'll result in tighter, cleaner, and more managable code.

thanks everyone. for now I'm going to stick with tables. But sites we do for clients we'll try to use CSS as much as possible. I love the clean and fast loading times associated with CSS.

changed the front page a little.

Getting there me thinks. Picture is kind of gloomy and not as dynamic as the others. Perhaps playing with the brightness/levels a bit to make the color pop out. Also maybe incorporate the "intersecting" white lines you have on the other headers.

Looks like the left side needs a border. Or do the light gray (#EEEEEE).

Someone noted earlier to find a picture that had this lower quality to it because the office picture looked a little too clear compared to the other picture. But yea, it looks a little gloomy. I'll play around with it.

Actually, I wanted to have it look like it was popping out. But I think the current effect would only work if i flush the entire page to the left.

This is a little nit-picky, but the drop shadow in the top right hand corner is bugging me. Basically if you look at the drop shadow in the lower left corner you see that the light source is coming from the top left, but the top right doesn't show this.

Top right looks like the drop shadow image has been cut off. Like I said nit-picky, but I will close out with a compliment. Overall it looks great . Very professional.

i'm doing away with the drop shadow. i think the cutout menus up top doesnt fit in with the drop shadow effect. if i were to use a traditional navigation bar or something, then it would look nice. for this, i'll go back to what i had before. just gotta work on the picture.
