    Need help with my website

    hi there ,

I was wondering , how do i prevent my visitors from seeing the contents of my folders by typing for example : www.anywebsite.com/images

And is there anyway i can hide the html pages from appearing next to the domain in the aderss bar? so no matter where the visitor is , the page would still be showing as : http://www.anywebsite.com/

    Appreciate your help

Lets see .... on the hiding index thingy:

    1. Drop an index.html file in the folder.
    2. Use the cPanel Index Manager.
    3. Stick "options -Indexes" (without quotes) in the .htaccess file in that folder.

I think those are the ways. #1 and #2 beginning the easiest.

On the other thing? No idea.

For first Q, how bout a 403 Forbidden? No direct looksie..
They'd still have access if they knew the URL, say "images/file.jpg".

Second, that is the use of frames from what I gather you
wish to do (i.e., URL is always "domain.com", instead of "domain.com/current/path/to/page.html").

However I strongly discourage the use of frames!

I think its come up once; can't recall if here or on
another forum.. but I **Think** the person used mod_rewrite
to force the URL to always look like just "http://domain.com"

              heya Mashoor, my two cents.

Its probably not an issue with the site, but I think using anything to make any page always appear as www.domain.com won't do your search engine rankings any good whatsoever.

Not to mention it being AWFUL for humans and people who might actually want to bookmark a page on your site.
