New Site Design, looking for reviews/comments

My girlfriend just finished a new site design for a local band. I welcome opinions and reviews and comments. Site is hosted @ hostbaby (which is really good for basic, basic users).

Also, if anyone has any idea on what kind of charge (for site design) would be normal for this type of design (although this is a freebie for a local band). Just curious. So let it fly. Gimmie your thoughts, ect.

Thats a cool site. I like it. I was not expecting that.

As for a fee, i think she could charge a a nice amount, but the problem is, most small local bands can not afford it. She can always charge an hourly rate, at the going rate in her area. If the average web dev. rate is about $45/hr, have her charge say $30-40/hr. That idea.

It was a freebie, found the band, liked them, so helping promote them on the web in more ways than one (did I mention we get in for free at all shows now?). Next band we do (another local one) will get charged if they decide to go ahead and do a redesign.

Actually that was her first attempt @ flash. Did all that from reading tutorials on the web and trial/error. Basically same way I've learnt how to work on computers in the past 5-8 years.

I like the design but all those pop up pages break up the navigation in both the flash and html version.

Never any money in bands. I usually try to make their site as self-serve as possible.

I have to disagree with Andy, if the local average rate is $45/hr then charge $10 to $15 above that. Never short yourself let the other guy do that. If the customer gets sticker shock at just your hourly rate then what are they going to do when they get the actual bill?

Heck telling a new client my hourly rate is their first test. I usually like to snick it in while they're standing up ... if I have to help them get up off the floor then they failed.

            Nice site.
Two splash pages may be a little irritating for some however

Hey Buddha, the reason why i said lower, was because i was assuming they were new and getting into the industry as a web developer, and looking for clients. I assume that because, she didnt know what to charge.

Andy what your saying is the common wisdom for newbies in any field not just web design. I just don't agree with it. Gives them no room for negotiation. When your new your going to be working on the low end of the rate scale anyway. How low depends, to some extent, where you start negotiating from.

I'd have to ask her what she used, prolly an assortment of sites.
