    Marketing Advise

    Okay 2morrow morning (I hope someone replies by then!) I'm
    going to get my SLR camera repaired; broke blah blah anyways.

    This guy has a nice size selection of cameras and I'd've never
    known of him if not for his page on Daytona's Flea market website.

    Its a simple page, I guess he's a featured vendor or something,
    been there for awhile now (11+ yrs). Anyyyyyyyywaays he has
    TONS of cameras and I gotta admit I'm wondering why he isn't
    selling any online or something. How do I pop the question of
    online selling his cameras? Or to let on, hey I can do this if
    you give me a chance

    I alread have a basic mockup in place (see link below) and
    I'm putting final touchs on (going to be html page w/ border).
    MY question is do I put his biz name? (Clem's Classic Camera)
    How do I approach him with the idea of doing a online store?

    Personally, I wouldn't have bothered drawing up any mockups until I figured out how much interest he had. Yeah you probably did it in your free time and it might not have taken a ton of time, but still, it's time that could have possibly been better spent, I don't know, eating or sleeping or something, lol.

    That said, I would definately not hesitate to mention the fact that you do websites to him. Really it's not too bad once you just do it.. most people are pretty open to the idea of having a website for their business, and I've often found that THEY are the ones that are intimidated to get a site started because they feel a little ignorant about the whole process.

    If you wanted a specific line to use... well, just being blunt and getting straight to the point has always worked for me. I mean, business is business, right? I'd just say, "I saw you have a website, but I didn't see anything about purchasing your merchandise online. I bet you could really do good business if you had an online store. I do webpages and if you ever are interested in something like that, I'd love to help you establish you store on the web." and emphasize to him how easy it is to receive orders online etc etc... Give him a business card and sit back and wait. If he doesn't bite on the idea then no big deal, but if he does (and odds are that he has at least THOUGHT about selling them online by now), then he will be glad that you offered you services.

      Yep, hence why its so bloated (well to me @least, 78kb or so).
      I'll go ahead and pitch the line 2morrow, slightly different to emphasize
      that people online look hard for decent, in good order, older SLRs and the like.

        My advice, don't be toooooo misleading, because maintaining an online store takes a lot of effort, so someone on staff will have to have the knowledge and time to maintain it (especially with a store that turns over a lot of random products instead of a steady inventory, such as old cameras), or end up paying you over and over and getting grumpy about it.

        Sure, I can maintain a store with no headache or second thought, but most people have a hard time getting a pic from their cam to their puter, and maintaining someone's store for free is not my idea of a good time either. :>
