I am not really good at web design even though I build a lot of ads for my web site. From time to time I run into a situation I cannot solve. Right now I am looking for a type of information form with an email address that would or could not be harvested by Spammers. There must be a way to discard the Spammers automatically before they are downloaded and keep only the ones from the information form, or to have a program that hides the recipients on the information form. Today I received 2300 spams and 5 filled out information forms. This is quite time consuming and disturbing. Any ideas you may care to share would be appreciated.

You can hide the email addresses from the harvester-bots by using a number of techniques outlined on this page: http://www.u.arizona.edu/~trw/spam/index.htm
Within a day of putting up one page for a customer he received dozens of spam emails to an address used only on that page in a "mailto:" link. For another site, I used the simple obfuscation method outlined on that page, and no spam emails came through. That could provide part of the answer for you (unless the bots are actually filling out your form and sending it! In that case, you might try putting an image of a number on the screen and forcing the users to input that number on the form, and not mail it if the number is missing or incorrect). -

Thank you Frank, I went to the site and it looks like just the right thing. Now all I need is someone with that kind of knowledge to do it for me as I don't know any of that stuff. If you know of anyone, please have them contact me at dshepp@flbd.comComment
