Most Time Consuming Task You've Had to Do

(Web Design-related only) what is the most time consuming,
basicly menial, task you've ever had to do?

For my personal site (for an gaming group I belong to),
I had to go through several different taskes ~ then again
this had to be perfect, as I decided to actively start making an Portfolio

Here's my list, add your own so we can sit here
and complain about the demanding tasks we have to put up with

Custom-style for the phpBB forums;
Custom-style for the phpEventGallery calendar;
Task of editing Sevenity (7-0) small graphics by hand for the forums;
Task of editing the Flash Navigation several times before it was "just right";
Task of several mockups before deciding on an Header Image;
Task of deciding the layout of the site & the navigation;
Task of intergraiting the phpBB, phpEventGallery, into the site itself *;
Task of custom-building am news publishing system;
Task of custom-building an Add-on (User Comments) for the news system;
Task of custom-building an download counter for the downloads page;
Task of custom-building an extensive "Template-Engine" code for future †
Task of custom-building an "Users Online" code for the site

* Not completely intergraited as say you can check
your private messages anywhere on the site, but you
get the general idea; basicly for easy of navigation etc.

† Basic header/footer/db files, so extremely easy to
update the site itself (graphics withstanding) in the future.

*fingers hurting* I need ice guys,
editing SEVENITY of those little tiny graphics
they use on phpBB really are killers ~ AVOID @ ALL COSTS!!

PS: Also a bad idea to do all this,
staying up til nearly 3AM when you know
you got to get up @ 8AM, plus have a fever

just to say "HA! LOOK WHAT I DID!!" most likely right?
Well yes, in a way I am ~ I am damn proud of it

Heh. If you're a developer, design and coding are the easiest parts (and often what you're getting paid for) - sore wrists and tired eyes be damned - if not, you're in the wrong business.

By far the hardest part is convincing a potential client to go with you ... and not his nephew's babysitter's dog-groomer's friend who knows someone with a copy of frontpage express.

And don't get me started on endless JAD sessions, user-acceptance committees, project managers, 15-level approval processes, and creating reams of pretty documents with all sorts of little boxes and arrows.

Eh; yes, big hands to Oz for helping me though
But indeed, by trade I am not a professional/paid web designer
But is this what the real world truly is like?

If so, lemme turn 'round before too late and
learn from Programming lang & go work for GolemLabs
