New Design / Portfolio Layout?

Hey guys; not sure how I should build my portfolio;
I'm completely re-designing one of my sites, and I wish to be more "professional".

Should I have a small picture, both as a preview & link to the site,
then a small word about the key highlights during its design?

Or maybe just words, and give a link to it?
Should I also include well-thought out mockups?

Yes, I think that always looks cool!

I would say yes, if the mockups are what I think they are. The less decisions you make the customer do, the better.

<EDIT>Yes, a mockup is basicly making a fictious site,
for the sole purpose of keeping up your "mad skillz" during
a peroid when you do not have any customers;
as well, going to take your advise on the layout </EDIT>

I think your website looks cool... if you run out of space on some of your other pages you may want to think about widening the page to 700 pixels wide. You can then put 2 columns of information and fit more on the page without scrolling too far down. If you have enough space as is then by all means leave it

Hmm not sure if I'll widen it to 700;
that'd mean whole re-sizing flash,
resizing the whole header eh; too much work

You should be between 740-760pixels then it'll fix 800x600 and be wide enough.

There is a saying in my country: "Who does not have in head, he must have it in his legs" meaning, if you do not think it good in advance you will have to do more physical work later

Two general notes:
- avoid heavy graphics on site, especialy in page header
- avoid flash, especialy do not use it as site navigation

So your saying dittch my wonderful flash nav menu??
Man I can't do rollovers to save my life, lol ~ flash is the only good thing

So a few of my....first sites, where heavily loaded in graphics,
does that make me very evil / awful ??

Jonathan looking at your source code there's not one anchor <a> anywhere for a search engine to follow. They may index your front page but that's it. Put in a nice plain link to a site map or something. Search engines don't click Flash buttons ... yet.

You can get around this by placing plain href links on the bottom of all your pages such as:

Yep exactly. Just make sure you keep the page below 100KB (HTML) or the search engine may not see those links either. Not that this should be a problem for your front page Jonathan but just in case...

lol; well I semi re-designed it, after everyone's imput,
as well as Oz telling me it was so "extremely small" in his 1600x resolution

Is that a real email address in your author meta tag? If so, spammer will find it. Your keyword meta tag looks a little heavy not that it matters it's hardly used any more. I perfer 20 to 30 keywords but that's just me. Looks like you got more than 50 there? What's with the description meta tag? Would you want your site list with that description?

Have you considered adding a COPA (Children Online Protection Act) Statement? Since your targeting gamers that might be construed as children too?

I like the larger layout.
