Example "Clearification" email for hosting offers.

For those who have SEMI computer illiterate people asking into
details of what your hosting has to offer, or what this or that
means ~ here's a email I just fired up for my own use. Just modify as see fit.

    Hello *user*,

I am sorry I took this long to reply to our earlier MSN Messenger conversation.
Hopefully this email will clear up any questions on the exact services, and how to use them,
I am offering to you with my hosting offer. If you have any questions or comments
please feel free to reply, or better yet, drop me a line on MSN Messenger.

    300MB webspace.
    - This means how much hard disk space to store your files, and emails. This is "your" slice of the hard drive
on the server, and it works same as files on your PC. Once you hit 300MBs, you will not be able to upload any more
until you delete other files or upgrade your hosting package.

    5GB (5,000MBs) bandwidth per month.
    - This means how many MBs of space can be "Transfered". A classic example for this, is that if you
used up all 300MBs of your webspace, then in one month all the files can be downloaded 16.6 times.
Once your monthly bandwidth limit is used, it'll show a error message onto the first of the next month when
the bandwidth counter resets itself. If you hit the limit you can always upgrade your hosting package.

CGI, Perl, SSI, and PHP Scripting Support.
    - This means you have access to use advanced server-side scripts written in any of these languages;
CGI and Perl are simular, and SSI is rarely used. PHP is most likely what the most used language
will be, for server-side applications. This includes forums, guest books, contact us forms, blogs, and more.

    Unlimited* MySQL databases.
    - Some server-side applications, like guest books, a blog, and forums require some method of
storage for the messages entered. Some use "Flat files", or .TXT files but this is not recommended,
since it is slower and uses more system resources. MySQL is the most popular database used for
forums, blogs, guest books, and more.

    Unlimited* email addresses.
    - This means you can create any number of @yourdomain.com** email addresses; examples
are "webmaster@yourdomain.com", "user@yourdomain.com", and so forth. This is cool because
you can also offer these email addresses to friends! But be careful to make sure none are used for spam.

    Unlimited* Sub-domains.
    - This means you can create any number of "something.yourdomain.com" URLs. Some examples
are forums; some websites perfer to have "forums.theirwebsite.com", instead of "theirwebsite.com/forums/".
Also, used with FTP accounts, you can use these to give limited access to friends; like "myfriend.yourdomain.com".

    Unlimited* FTP accounts.
    - This means you can create any number of FTP accounts. We'll talk about
what a FTP account is, and what its used for, later in this email.

    Frontpage Extentions.
    - Some people use Microsoft's "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get) webpage editor.
This is great for people who do not know, nor have the time to learn, HTML or other scripting languages.
Microsoft's Frontpage can upload your files for you- however, the website requires Frontpage extentions.
While these are available to use (you must turn them on), it is NOT officially supported and nearly all
questions regarding this will be turned down. Keep this in mind.

    cPanel.
    - This is the most popular control panel on the web today, with many professional web designers prefering it.
With the right mix of advanced options and ease of use for beginners, it is considered by some to be a "perfect" control panel.
If you want, I can setup a demo account for you three days for you to test cPanel, file transfer speed, uptime, etc.

    Web-based email access.
    - cPanel has bundled with it three web-based email scripts. These are: Neomail, Horde, and SquirrelMail.
All three are popular and as easy to use as Hotmail is.

    POP3/IMAP email access.
    - You have the option to setup your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) to use your email if you choose
to do so instead of using the web-based email access.

    Email support.
    - For support, you will communicate using email. Since I am at or near the computer for
a good decent amount of time, you'll usually get quick replies; however, to cover myself
incase some emergency, etc. ~ the official reply time may be up to 34 hours. I've yet to take this long.
Also, though not official, you can drop me a line on MSN, AOL, Yahoo, or ICQ Messengers.

    FTP Access.
    - Most important. This is how you will be transfering most of your files. cPanel has a built in
file manager, note, but for large amounts of files, or large files in general - FTP is often the only method to upload files.

Below are three links; first is to download my favorite (Free) FTP client, called "CoreFTP" (Lite version).
The other two are their help files. Naturally, I will reply and help my best if you have difficult setting up your FTP client.

    ------------

That is pretty much it for this email. If you noted, beside the word "Unlimited" and "Yourdomain.com", nearly
each time I said both, I had one or two little " * " symbols. Please see below for what each one represents.

Thanks for your time, and please do not hesitate to reply to this or drop me a line on
MSN, AOL, Yahoo, or ICQ Messengers if you have any questions or comments.
    Regards,
"How can someone be so distracted yet so focused?"
