    Cheapest SSL...

Hey guys-- I remember once seeing on the old forums,
a link to an SSL place that had them for $19

I'm looking for one but I really do not
want to go out and pay $50 for a test one...

Basicly just need a good ol' cheapy to
securely let ppl login to a members zone etc.

    Anybody know of anything?

Some cert cheapies - or make your own...

IBM Cloud with Red Hat offers market-leading security, enterprise scalability and open innovation to unlock the full potential of cloud and AI.

have them for $19 or $49.

Or this outfit below also do cheapo certs, including what they call a 'intranet cert':

Of course, for the kind of usage you outlined, you could generate your own using OpenSSL:

eclectica.ca is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, eclectica.ca has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

or if you have access to a Windows 2000/2003 Server, it is also doable to be your own CA.

I have my personal XP Home Edition comp running
Apache 1.3.x, mySQL, PHP, and phpMyAdmin.

Does the guide you post work on that O/S Setup?
Its basicly used for dev reasons when I cannot
get my greedy hands on the blazing cable family comp

Perhaps. But it is not as likely that the required OpenSSL files may be available. They are quite commonly thrown into Linux distros.

Have a look at http://www.openssl.org/ to see what might be available to run on Windows.

Or time to do some Googling...

i am not sure if the 19.99 ev1servers chained ssl will work on dathorns servers. plus it only works with Internet Explorer 5.01 + and Netscape 7.

you will have to ask andrew.

We do not support anything other than plain old SSL certificates for a single domain.

SSL-Certificates StarterSSL plan is selling for $38 a year. I'm not sure if Dathorn supports it, but it might be something to check into and see.

eh; if I'm paying that much, might as
well just get over it and pay $50 @ E1v or w/e

*sigh*, guess should have held off on IP cuz
I just had to dish out some cash I owed a friend
and I need to keep some saved for Dathorn incase
I can't get the $$ required for the next month's payment

Here's a small comparison chart on SSL providers I found:
Verisign enables the security, stability and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including the .com and .net domains. The domains that define the internet are Powered by Verisign.

                    Looks like ipsca.com ($68 for 2yrs) and freessl.com ($39 for 1yr) are the cheapest.

I'll start a new thread for my own SSL questions.
