All will be sold on a first come first serve basis when they become available. As of right now we've hit a little delay until we hear back from SWSoft regarding what appears to be a bug in Virtuozzo.

What would be the procedure to move all data from WHM account to new service? Is there any additional cost?

You would have root level access on the VPS and can use the WHM transfer utility to transfer your accounts.

Thanks for clarifying. The other point concerning 'burst' usage that I wanted to clarify is the following: AFAIU, there is absolutely NO way I can abuse the server, damage other users, whatever (I'm talking only about the server itself, not the network)? That is, if I install a buggy script and it falls into endless loop or otherwise consumes server resources, this is only my own problem?

And more, if i install a VERY buggy script, and someone exploits it and gets root access, he STILL can't damage anything except my own data (again, I'm skipping the obvious network/email problems he could create)?

Just to clarify: I'm in no way meaning to abuse anything Just want to be sure which errors are 'safe' for me to do (just my data may be affected), and which ones will result in serious problems and get my account suspended and head shot.

Regarding the resource usage, it is still not absolutely safe, but many times more so than a shared environment. Virtuozzo has plans to include more disk I/O limitations in future versions but that's the one thing that cannot be controlled as well as it needs to be. But even then the CPU, RAM and other limitations in place severely limit your ability to create extremely large amounts of disk I/O to the point that it would bring down a server.

As for something on your VPS getting exploited, it would only hurt your VPS.

Andrew, You are providing good support and services since first in 2003, I personally thanks for all that(Except few long downtimes that has been caused by customers).

Now I want to tell my opinions, as I already have VPS(and had) by others:

1-About the Disk resources, they are low. as you can get 10GB and more by around $40.

2-Bandwidth is very low for 3GB space, and a bit for other plans.

3-Other resources are low in your plans, for example: You can get:
              20 GB Disk Space
              500 GB Bandwidth
              4 IP
              400 Mhz Guaranteed
              2000 Mhz Burstable
              256 MB RAM Guaranteed
              2000 MB RAM Burstable
              $39.9/month
AT rapidvps.com with Plesk Reloaded !!

You can have similar plans in many places with very good backgrounds.

Also Carlos Camacho has done a very good research and compare, and its available HERE

              I hope this help.

We're not in business to compete with everyone. There will always be people out there offering everything for next to nothing. When creating the plans listed above we simply wanted to remain competitive with the bigger and better known companies that are offering this type of service. RapidVPS is not very big, they've only been around since 2004, and they are hugely overselling Hostdime bandwidth at $0.08/GB on the plan listed above if you include nothing else. That's not a path we wish to follow.

I'd much rather use DIS if I ever had to move up to a VPS or dedicated solution,
though at this time LOL the needs of that are kinda slim to none but still.. so far,
I don't understand half of those stats but it looks good and w/ Dathorn's support
it'll blow away the "competitors" charging the lower prices

                    Ditto that.

The VPS solutions really came at the right time. A few of my clients have been asking about reselling the webhosting services that I provide (backed by DIS). And another have a problem with newsletters to their customers. Finally, with the VPS solution, all my woes are gone.

The problem now is that I have to keep a very close eye for the signups.

                      Just a few questions.

                      1) Will I be able to install custom commercial scripts like psychostats in the VPS service?

                      2) Will I be able to install those custom scripts, such as phpCOIN or maybe even modernbill, etc, and include them as standard installation for my resellers?

                      3) Lastly, any confirmed date that the VPS solution will rollout? And is there a priority for existing account holders?

                        1. Yes.

                        2. Yes, the offering to your customers would depend entirely on you though.

                        3. The first VPS accounts should be available by the end of next week, but we're still held up on a possible Virtuozzo bug at this point. All accounts will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Although if they do sell out you can rest assured there will be more to come.

                          Sweet.

Sorry, just thought up of 2 more questions.

                          1) Will there be any downtime for my clients when i migrate them from my reseller account to the VPS account?

                          2) Will there is an account name change?

                          Thank you for your time.

                            1. So long as the domains are up on both accounts while you change nameservers, no.

                            2. What are you referring to exactly?

I think for #2, he meant the DIS-#### name, and/or
the usernames he's set up in WHM for his existing customer accounts.

Your dis# would change as it's an entirely different and seperate account. Your domain usernames can be whatever you want them to be.
