there is quite a jump in bandwidth from VPS plan 1 and plan 2. 30gb > 175gb but the storage only jumps from 3 to 8gb. Is there any way there could be a plan inbetween #1 and #2, or increase plan #1's bandwidth? VPS 1 is close to Shared Business Plan, but has less bandwidth,

This was discussed in the initial post. We wanted to offer a VPS for $20/month, this could only be done with very few resources due to the licensing costs involved with Virtuozzo AND cPanel.Originally posted by halyfaxthere is quite a jump in bandwidth from VPS plan 1 and plan 2. 30gb > 175gb but the storage only jumps from 3 to 8gb. Someone should ask this here especially after that last question.
Is IRC still off limits with these VPS accounts? IRC Servers? IRC bots?"Whatcha mean I shouldn't be rude to my clients?! If you want polite then there will be a substantial fee increase." - BuddhaComment

I see. Will you provide a guide to know how to do this transfer via WHM?Originally posted by AndrewTThere's no direct upgrade path. You would have to purchase a seperate VPS account and transfer over your accounts via WHM.
New questions:
1. Will we be able to modify httpd.conf so we don't need to use .htaccess files for mod_rewrite?
2. Does PHP have run as phpSuExec in a VPS too or is it up to us?Comment

The transfer via WHM is an actual option, you enter the server IP, the account username, and it's password. It will transfer the account for you entirely.
1. Yes.
2. You can run PHP however you like, by default it will likely use phpsuexec. There are really very few reasons as to why you wouldn't want to run it with phpsuexec, it is much easier to use with phpsuexec and is much safer to use.Comment

Andrew:
This is wonderful news. I've looking for this service for a quite long time, and seeing that you will offer this for a low as $20.00/month it's a real opportunity.
I'm a system administrator myself, and possibly the main use of a VPS will be "to play" with it, testing new software, testing my scripts and so on. Speaking of this, it will be easy to break my "box" if something goes wrong.
So, If I render my VPS unusable for some reason (just to say, i'm sure this will not happen), I will need to pay you $20/hour to reinstall my VPS? Or there will be an option to "quick restore" all of the VPS software just like new?
I think that's all... Sorry for my bad english...

We're still testing some options but via the Virtuozzo control panel you likely will have the ability to "reset" your VPS to its original state while having the option of keeping a copy of your original data in a new folder.Comment

If you look at the plans, you are guaranteed a certain amount of resources (CPU, RAM, etc.). It will only perform as well as your sites can handle being under those restrictions. The higher up you get on the plans, the better the potential performance you will receive.Originally posted by yescaDoes anyone have any comments on how server performance will differ (comparing the shared plans w/ the $20 VPS)?
I assume that it will be the same or better, but thought I should ask.
Equal, Better, or Much Better???
That aside, it shouldn't be a problem. If it couldn't handle being in one of the lower level VPS plans then it certainly isn't suitable for a shared hosting environment anyways.Comment
